Coming Up Principals Corner

Welcome back to another busy and exciting term. Once again


we have lots of activities and learning taking place.
Our Y7/8 team is getting into their learning hubs with such
things as Mandarin, motor mechanics, tricky video media and
Term 3
exploring the world of science and technology. Our Y4/6 team
2/8 Tama Toa Marae is exploring the areas of science and deciding when and how they are learning
visit specific areas of the curriculum. Our Y0/3 team is exploring the world of
9/8 Mana Tahi colour through science, environment and art, using play as the vehicle.
Fundraising Alongside this we are introducing robotics to the school and thanks to our
10/8 BIG DAY OUT supportive Board of Trustees we have purchased new Chromebooks so all
11/8 Assembly hosted students from Y4/8 have their own Chromebook for learning (except those who
by Rms 9 and 23 have their own). This of course is of no cost to our families as we value the use
14/8 Duffy Theatre of digital learning and the results that are coming from this. Of course we also

Fundraising Where back at school and the weather is not too good for our garden, we have
13/9 School weeded and dug over the garden with compost and manure. Bring on the warm

Sweet As Room 15 have set up two Bokashi bins in their class to help out with all the
14/9 School food scraps, between the worms and the Bokashi bins we seem to be keeping
Production onto of our scraps. They are so easy to set up if you want to find out more

PB4L Positive Behaviour for Learning
23/9 Election Day
Children love to be complimented, however children are often too good at
hall in use putting each other down instead of building each other up. As adults we need
29/9 PB4L to encourage children to give compliments.
Celebration Day We need to explain that giving compliments helps start conversations. It can

Term 3 Everyone likes receiving a compliment. A simple praise has the amazing ability
to make someone feel warm and appreciated. While giving compliments may
seem like a basic skill, it is not something that necessarily comes naturally.
Teachers, parents and whanau can help children develop their compliment-
Term 4 giving skills by engaging them in games that involve the giving and receiving of

Survey
Each family has been given a survey on Communication (either by email or hardcopy), can you all please
take a moment and fill this in and have it back to the office by the 18 th of August 2017.

We are sending our final photo order this Friday (4th of August), if you wish to order cultural/sports group
