Rules for Pookalam
• The competition is open for all Syro Malabar Parishes.
• The maximum number of team members allowed for the Floral Carpet is 5 to 8 members and Presence of more than 8 people in the designated area will attract disqualification. • The participants in the hall are not allowed to go out once the event starts. • Only natural flowers or flower petals or leaves should be used for the pookalam. • Use of artificial colours or artificial flowers, vegetables, grains and coconut shreds will lead to disqualification • Flower cutting is not acceptable anywhere outside the hall • Pre fabricated or pre moulded elevation (stencils) is strictly not allowed. • Display of traditional ‘Nilavilaku’ ,’Nirapara pookula’ etc are allowed, but will not be assessed for deciding the winners. • The organizing committee will allot the places to the participants for the display of the floral carpets. • Cutting of flowers with any electrical instruments will not be entertained. • All participants are required to be present at the venue at least half an hour before the event commences in order get their places allotted. • The mode of place allotment will be drawn at the allotted place and size only • Pookalam competition will start at 8:45 AM and should be completed by 10:45 AM (Tentative timing) and the premises should be vacated by 11:00 AM after cleaning the allotted area for the judges to assess the Pookalam. • There will be warning bell at 10:30 AM to wind up your work • The dimension of the Pookalam should be 5/5. • Continuation of the decoration after the allotted time will attract disqualification • The result of the Pookalam completion will be announced along with the results of the football tournament on the same day. • The decision of the judges shall remain final and other queries shall be made to the president or the general convener only. • Pookalam venue will be open for all the visitors till 5.30 pm
