The difference between ASTM A105 flange and ASTM

A105N flange
ASTM A105 and A105N steel flanges are not same,they have same raw materials,
same steel grades,but different heat treatment requirement.N means
Normalization heat treatment,and A105 flange haves no heat treatment
requirement.

That means the A105N flange is one kind of A105 flange.But A105N flange have
a better mechanical properties than regular A105 flange,better strength and
better performance in low temperature service.

In a word,the ASTM A105 flange and ASTM A105N flange have a same chemical
composition,but the A105N have a better mechanical property and usually used
in critical situation.

What is ASTM A105N flange?

ASTM A105N flange means the steel flange made by A105N material.ASTM
A105N steel has no grade in the ASTM A105 standard,N means the heat
treatment normalization to the steel.

ASTM A105 is the most common forged carbon steel material for flanges,but it is
not suitable in low temperature service,A105N steel is widely used as the flanges
material in low temperature service and other critical application.

After normalization, A105 steel will remove the internal stresses caused by
casting,forming or forging.The normalizing heat treatment will ensure the A105N
steel has superior properties than the A105 steel.If a inquiry specifically indicates
they need A105N,then it is necessary to use A105N material.

What is A105 steel flange?

A105 steel flange means the steel flange made from ASTM A105 material.ASTM
A105 is a material of carbon steel forgings for piping application,it is used to
produce the steel flanges and steel forged pipe fittings.A105 is the most common
carbon steel materials in ANSI and ASME standard.

ASTM A105 forged steel materials could be used for ANSI/ASME B16.5 and
B16.47 steel flanges,includes the weld neck flange,blind flange, slip on
flange,socket flange,threaded flange etc.And A105 is also the material of orifice
flange of B16.48.

Besides the ANSI and ASME standard flange,A105 material is also widely used to
produce the flanges in other national standard,like the AS2129 standard
(Australia Standard Flange),or EN flange standard,JIS flange
standard.Furthermore,the A105 also could be used to produce special designed
flanges as per request,they are also A105 steel flange.
