Warranty
Limitation of Warranty (For country-specific terms and conditions outside of the USA, please visit www.tsi.com.)
and Liability Seller warrants the goods, excluding software, sold hereunder, under normal use and service
(effective April 2014) as described in the operator's manual, to be free from defects in workmanship and material for
12 months, or if less, the length of time specified in the operator's manual, from the date of
shipment to the customer. This warranty period is inclusive of any statutory warranty. This
limited warranty is subject to the following exclusions and exceptions:
a. Hot-wire or hot-film sensors used with research anemometers, and certain other components
when indicated in specifications, are warranted for 90 days from the date of shipment;
b. Pumps are warranted for hours of operation as set forth in product or operators manuals;
c. Parts repaired or replaced as a result of repair services are warranted to be free from defects
in workmanship and material, under normal use, for 90 days from the date of shipment;
d. Seller does not provide any warranty on finished goods manufactured by others or on any
fuses, batteries or other consumable materials. Only the original manufacturer's warranty
applies;
e. This warranty does not cover calibration requirements, and seller warrants only that the
instrument or product is properly calibrated at the time of its manufacture. Instruments
returned for calibration are not covered by this warranty;
f. This warranty is VOID if the instrument is opened by anyone other than a factory authorized
service center with the one exception where requirements set forth in the manual allow an
operator to replace consumables or perform recommended cleaning;
g. This warranty is VOID if the product has been misused, neglected, subjected to accidental
or intentional damage, or is not properly installed, maintained, or cleaned according to the
requirements of the manual. Unless specifically authorized in a separate writing by Seller,
Seller makes no warranty with respect to, and shall have no liability in connection with, goods
which are incorporated into other products or equipment, or which are modified by any person
other than Seller.
The foregoing is IN LIEU OF all other warranties and is subject to the LIMITATIONS stated
herein. NO OTHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR
PURPOSE OR MERCHANTABILITY IS MADE. WITH RESPECT TO SELLERS BREACH
OF THE IMPLIED WARRANTY AGAINST INFRINGEMENT, SAID WARRANTY IS LIMITED
TO CLAIMS OF DIRECT INFRINGEMENT AND EXCLUDES CLAIMS OF CONTRIBUTORY
OR INDUCED INFRINGEMENTS. BUYERS EXCLUSIVE REMEDY SHALL BE THE
RETURN OF THE PURCHASE PRICE DISCOUNTED FOR REASONABLE WEAR AND
TEAR OR AT SELLERS OPTION REPLACEMENT OF THE GOODS WITH NON-
INFRINGING GOODS.
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE USER OR
BUYER, AND THE LIMIT OF SELLER'S LIABILITY FOR ANY AND ALL LOSSES, INJURIES,
OR DAMAGES CONCERNING THE GOODS (INCLUDING CLAIMS BASED ON CONTRACT,
NEGLIGENCE, TORT, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE) SHALL BE THE RETURN OF
GOODS TO SELLER AND THE REFUND OF THE PURCHASE PRICE, OR, AT THE
OPTION OF SELLER, THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE GOODS. IN THE CASE
OF SOFTWARE, SELLER WILL REPAIR OR REPLACE DEFECTIVE SOFTWARE OR IF
UNABLE TO DO SO, WILL REFUND THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE SOFTWARE. IN NO
EVENT SHALL SELLER BE LIABLE FOR LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR
ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES. SELLER
SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLATION, DISMANTLING OR
REINSTALLATION COSTS OR CHARGES. No Action, regardless of form, may be brought
against Seller more than 12 months after a cause of action has accrued. The goods returned
under warranty to Seller's factory shall be at Buyer's risk of loss, and will be returned, if at all,
at Seller's risk of loss.
iii
Buyer and all users are deemed to have accepted this LIMITATION OF WARRANTY AND
LIABILITY, which contains the complete and exclusive limited warranty of Seller. This
LIMITATION OF WARRANTY AND LIABILITY may not be amended, modified or its terms
waived, except by writing signed by an Officer of Seller.

System Requirements
Hardware (minimum requirements):
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.7 GHz, 1GB RAM, 20 GB of hard drive space, or
minimum requirements for the operating system, whichever is higher.
Free hard drive space depends on the amount of records to be
stored.
A free USB port.
Software (minimum requirements):
Windows 7, 8, or 10 operating system (32-bit or 64-bit).
Windows NET 3.5 or higher. (included with our install package)
Installation
The TrakPro Lite Secure version 3.0 software is supplied on a CD
(TSI P/N 7001901) that loads software and communications drivers for
AeroTrak Handheld and Portable Airborne Particle Counters and
BioTrak Real-Time Viable Particle Counters. This software manual is
also supplied on the CD.
1-1
Installation consists of two parts:
Installation of TrakPro Lite Secure software.
Select Install TrakPro Lite Secure Software from the provided CD
and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
Note: If program fails to start automatically, click on autorun.exe.
Start TrakPro Lite Secure software either by clicking on its icon on the
desktop or by selecting it through the Start menu. A shortcut to the
application is located at Start | All Programs | TSI | TrakPro Lite
Secure.
The application will not allow you to proceed until the SuperUser
account has been defined. The SuperUser has all the privileges allowed
and must be setup in order to proceed. The SuperUser account may not
be deleted and also controls the creation of all other users.
1. Click Yes to display User Management screen (User tab) to enter a
password for SuperUser.
2-1
2. Select and enter a password for the SuperUser in the New Password
box and confirm it in the Confirm Password box.
3. Click Save to store the changes.
Note: All the checkboxes are already selected. These boxes may
NOT be unselected for the SuperUser. The Password
expiration period or the Inactivity logout period may be
changed. This password expiration and Inactivity logout period
applies to all users of the software.
TrakPro Lite Secure software is now ready for operation. Since this is the
default built-in user, TSI strongly recommends storing the password in a
safe place and creating another user with the same privileges for
everyday use.
WARNINGS
Do not connect the USB cable from instrument to computer until the
instrument is fully initialized and at its Main screen.
Do not run two instances of TrakPro Lite Secure software connecting
to the same instrument at the same time.
Tree View
The Tree View displays the instrument files that are opened in the
application (using File |Open Data File) or the samples and configuration
data for the instrument you are connected to. Click on the + icon next to
the tree view item to expand the information from that file to include the
sample data, zones, locations, and recipes.
The information displayed in the main screen reflects the options that
have been checked in the Tree View. Checking an object in the tree
automatically checks the parent file above it. This determines the
currently selected file or instrument (top object in the tree). All menu
options and display capabilities are based on the currently selected
instrument or file.
For instruments which support Zones, the following items are available
under each top-level instrument node in the tree:
Sample Data
Zone Name
Locations
Sample Records
Recipes
For instruments which do not support Zones, the following items are
available in the tree view:
Sample Data
Records
Locations
Sample Records
Recipes
Zones
Locations
Recipes
Sample Data
Sample Records (not selected) or (selected)
File Menu
The File menu provides options to login, logout, open data files, and exit
the application as described in the following table.
Option Description
Login Switch to a different user if a user is already logged in.
Logout Logs out the current user and redisplays the Login
message.
Open Data File Used to open an instrument data file in the application
(described below).
Exit Closes and exits the application. If there are any changes
that have not been saved, a prompt appears asking to
update devices with the changes.
A *.tplv2 file is one that was saved by a previous version of TrakPro Lite
Secure software. This file type is supported for compatibility only; TrakPro
Lite Secure software no longer saves files in this format.
A *.xml file contains sample data in the same format as the *_sec.xml file.
The data in this file may have been originally exported by the instrument
(i.e., an unsecured copy of the *_sec.xml file) or it may have been saved
by TrakPro Lite Secure software. (Refer to Saving Sample Records in the
next section under the Device Menu options.)
Note: When TrakPro Lite Secure software opens any *_sec.xml or *.xml
data file, it automatically verifies that the contents of this file have
not been modified. If it detects that the file has been modified
from its original content, it displays a message indicating that it is
unable to verify the file.
As shown above, the menu differs on whether or not TrakPro Lite Secure
software is communicating with a Particle Counter which supports Zones.
Option Description
Sample Records Delete or save sample records.
Zones Save, load, upload, or delete zones. When a zone
configuration is saved to a file, the zone, its locations and
its associated recipe configuration is saved.
Locations Save, load, upload, create or delete locations (particle
counter with no zone support only).
Recipes Save, load, upload, and delete recipes.
Connect Connect to a device on Ethernet or USB.
To save only recipe configurations, place a check next to the recipes you
want to save and TrakPro Lite Secure software saves them to a single
Excel-XML formatted file.
Note
The above dialog is not used with the Model 9303 AeroTrak Particle
Counter. If you connect a Model 9303, the software will automatically find
it (it might take a few seconds).
The Help menu allows displaying this document as a PDF file or viewing
information about the software (such as the version, etc.). When calling
for support, this information will need to be accessed.
Data Tab
The Data Tab displays the file data selected in the Tree View and
includes information such as the model number of the instrument,
number of samples, statistics of the sample, and so on.
Option Description

To set preferences as to how the data is displayed on the screen, use the
Report Viewer Toolbar. These settings can be changed at any point when
the software is operating, and the displayed reports automatically refresh
calculated values to reflect new changes.
The fields and options for this screen are described in the following table.
Option Description
Device The model and serial number of the device
(read-only).
Zone Name For an instrument which supports zones, select a
zone from the drop-down list. When a zone is
selected, the samples that will be included in the
report are shown in the Tree View. For a particle
counter which does not support zones, type in a zone
name that will be included in the report to identify the
records for where the data was taken.
Report Title Enter a title for the report.
Standard Use the drop-down list to select the standard report
for the selected zone. Even though the zone is
configured for a particular standard, a different
standard for the report can be selected.
Class Use the drop-down list to select the standard class. A
different class can be selected than what is defined
for the zone.
Status Select a status from the drop-down list; values can
be: Operational, As Built, or At Rest. For instruments
that support zones, this is read-only and displays the
value configured for the zone selected. Refer to the
instrument manual for more information.
Air Flow Use the drop-down list to select the standard
available. Selected zone Unidirectional or
Multidirectional. For instruments that support zones,
this is read-only and displays the value configured for
the zone selected.
Area Enter the area and units for the selected zone. For
instruments that support zones, this is read-only and
displays the value configured for the zone selected.
Recipe Select the recipe for the selected zone from the drop-
down list of available recipes. For a counter which
supports zones, this field is read-only and displays
the recipe configured for the selected zone.
Minimum Locations The minimum number of locations based on the
selected zone and standard configuration. This is a
calculated value using the air flow and area for the
selected standard and is read-only.
Minimum Samples The minimum number of samples for the selected
zone and standard configuration. It is a calculated
value using the number of locations, air flow and
area. This is a read-only field.
Use Start Date Check this box and select a date to exclude from
report samples collected before that date.
Use End Date Check this box and select a date to exclude from
report samples collected after that date.
The controls on this page are disabled if this data was opened from an
XML file; no changes are allowed to existing data files. In addition, a zone
that contains sample records is locked and cannot be deleted. If
there are no sample records for the zone, the fields are enabled and
changes can be made to the configuration parameters.
Refer to the Particle Counter users manual for more detailed information.
Any user with Can Modify Users/Preferences privilege can create and
modify users. To keep the log accurate there is no option to delete a
user. Users can only be disabled.
Each user has individually assigned privileges that let them execute
certain functions in the application. Based on these privileges, the
application enables/disables menu items, tab pages, and other features.
TSI recommends a single user name for each person. This assures that
all actions performed by that person are logged correctly and maintains a
full record of the users actions.
To create a new user, log in as either SuperUser or as any user who has
Can Modify Users/Preferences privilege.
Click on New User to populate default fields and then set up privileges
and a password as described in the following paragraphs. TrakPro Lite
Secure software does not allow multiple users with the same name.
Note: All user names and passwords are case sensitive.
After adding a user account, press Save when all changes are done. The
username is added to the list of users and the privileges for that
username are indicated under the appropriate headings.
Note: If you are only modifying administrative settings, you do not need
to press the Save button.
The table below offers suggestions for user privileges for various job
titles.
Other combinations of privileges are also valid. The application will raise
an error if a combination is not valid.
In order to maintain security and data integrity, all users actions are logged
into the Action Log that can be viewed through the Log Tab of the
application.
Use the Start Date: and End Date: fields at the bottom of the window to
narrow the timeframe of interest. The log will become quite large over time.
Click Print to open a printer selection window and print out the records of
the selected timeframe.
Make certain devices are fully powered on before connecting them to the
computer and starting the software.
For all other particle counters, use the Device |Connect menu option.
Once connected, the software identifies the device type and initiates
records download as well as download of zones, location names and
recipes (if supported by the specific device). Make certain the device is
fully powered on and initialized before establishing a connection.
This ensures faster response time and fewer connection errors.

CHAPTER 4
Troubleshooting
The Model 9303 AeroTrak Airborne Particle Counter will not generate an
application error when there is a broken connection. Other models such
as the Model 9306 will display an error message. This is due to the
nature of communication between devices and TrakPro Lite Secure
software.
On all devices except for the Model 9303, when the application closes or
the user logs out, TrakPro Lite software releases the device front panel.
In the event that the application aborts or the connection is lost, the
device front panel may remain locked.
Solution
Power-cycle the instrument and restart the application.
