Report about the Hikind expedition

The Co-curricular Unit of SMK Tunku Ismail recently organised a hiking activities at
the mountain Kinabalu from 27-29th July. The objectives of the camp were to improve
teamwork among the 40 participants who attended this camp. The activities at the camp
were handled by several youth leaders and medical staff.

All participants which came from the various clubs in school, had gathered at the
school hall at 7am. From there, they were taken to the campsite in by ship. They were
accompanied by five teachers, including the senior assistant of co-curricular affairs Encik
Zahari. Upon arrival at the campsite, they were asked to set up tents. The leader made a
complete plan for our hike. We formed the hiking group consisting of ten members.

At the next day, we visited the tourism board of Kinabalu to collect the information of the location.
Then, we bought some equipment and thing required in the hike. Some of the things we bought and
managed were firs-aid-kits with some medicines, carbohydrate snakes, flash lights, matches, knives,
jackets, some utensils required to prepare food.

By 5am, the participants started trek to their destination . The trekking route was full of
natural beauties and gifts such as many water falls, rivers, various types of plants, birds and animals, and
so on. The participants walked slowly enjoying whatever we saw on the way. They also took many
photographs. We could see the beautiful mountain peaks to the north.

It took us an hour and twenty-three minutes to reach the peak of Beacon Hills. By then,
all the participants forehead was covered in sweat, lips dehydrated, muscles But as they stood
on the peak of Kibabalu mountain, watching the city lights below us, they felt a sense of
accomplishment. Being on the top was like an escape from the chaotic lifestyle the paticipants
had before and was at peace with everything around them.

Lastly,all the participants felt that their hiking to Kinabalu mountain peak was really fruitful. They
have widened and depended our knowledge and experiences. Beacuse they had never thought before
that Kinabalu was so beautiful.
