3 Technology selection, process options and process alternatives available for ethylene glycol
manufacture, ISD considerations at each level.
Preliminary process economics and techno-commercial viability of project
4 Process Decription, Development of PFDs - Process synthesis, mass and heat transfer, reaction kinetics,
thermodynamics, separartion processes;process optimisation and process integration
5 Development of process specification sheets and detailed design: Design basis, Material specifications,
Standards and Codes; ASME, BS, ISO etc. Fabrication details, Performance Guarantees, Testing
6 Development of P&IDs - Process Control philosophy; types of systems, types of process interlocks, control

Presentation will be in Groups but marks will be individualised
One topic will be assigned to each team members (Team Leaders to distribute the topic in consultation with team
members).
Each individual is required to present 3 relevant pieces of information concerning 3 items under each topic
For topic 3 preliminary economics is a Must.
Each piece of information is worth 1 mark.
Each presentation will typically include 3 content slides and 1 slide for reference.
The time for each presenter/presentation is 2 mins.
