Classroom Expectations
Be Respectful
-We will be respectful of each other; this includes substitute teachers, guest speakers, fellow students,
and the teacher, even if we have a difference of opinion.

- We will treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves at all times.

- We will respect the classroom supplies and integrity of the classroom at all times.

Be Responsible
- We will come to class prepared every day.

- We will be prepared to begin class when the bell rings.

- We will take responsibility for our own behavior and the quality of work we do.

- We will strive to accomplish work which we can be proud.

Be Reliable
-When working in groups we will take our responsibilities seriously and contribute to the overall success
of the group.

- We will do our best to complete our assignments properly and in a timely manner.

Follow School Rules and Procedures

Follow all Directions Quickly, the FIRST time they are given

Classroom Procedures
1. When entering the classroom, you are expected to go directly to your seat and prepare your supplies.
You must ask for teacher permission to use the restroom. If, however, you abuse this privilege, it will be
revoked and you will be limited as to the number of times per week you can leave the room.

2. You will be expected to use group time in the proper manner. You will be held accountable if you use
your group time to socialize instead of accomplishing the assigned task.

3. You will be expected to be active and participate in whole group activities. This includes answering
questions, taking notes, completing assignments and contributing to think, pair share or shoulder
partners.

4. Class is not dismissed until the teacher has dismissed you; under no circumstances should you leave
the classroom without teacher permission..

5. You may have water in the classroom but no food or other beverages during class time. Snack foods,
candy, etc. will not be allowed unless provided by the school or teacher.

6. You will also be expected to live up to expectations stated in the classroom contract at all times.

Tardiness and Absences


School policy will be followed for tardiness to class. If you are tardy, you will go to the office to check in
FIRST, before coming to the classroom.

Students who are absent will have a folder for each week. When students are absent, it is the
STUDENTS job to retrieve work from their time of absence. Any work or assignments given out will be in
ABSENT WORK folder. It is the job of the student to retrieve all work. If you are absent a day, you have
one day to make up the work unless special permission has been obtained before the absence.

Parents may also email/message/text about work missed during an absence. ONLY PARENTS.

Missing or Late Work


Late work is only accepted with a parent note, medical note or other form to show illness, emergency,
etc. Late work is not accepted because it was forgotten, lost or eaten. Please speak to Ms. Nahirny
about any late work during Differentiation time.

Missing work is not accepted. Work must be made up or will result in a 0 in the gradebook. Please
speak to Ms. Nahirny about any missing work during Differentiation time. DO NOT ask to make up work
the week before the end of the grading period.

Water or Bathroom
Procedure for Restroom or Water:
1. Give water (3 fingers) or restroom (2 crossed fingers) hand signal.
2. Wait for teacher Go ahead.
3. Sign out with Bathroom Monitor (or partner).
4. Go to restroom/fountain with partner.
5. Return quickly and quietly.

Technology
Students will be encouraged to participate in BYOD (Bring your own device) throughout the school day.
Computers and other technology are a privilege. They are to be used ONLY when teacher directs.

- Students are able to log in and use device for directed instruction.
- Students are to use only Apps or Websites approved by school. Students must only use the app
or website during BYOD time in school.
- Students found incorrectly using device can have any of the following consequences (at teacher
discretion): device taken away or put away during assignment, parent contact, front office
contact.
- Devices will remain in student book bags and away unless told specifically to be used. They may
not be used at lunch, at recess or in transit to another location.

Using computers and tablets in school follow same procedures. Students found incorrectly using device

Consequences
Negative Consequences
Failure to follow these rules or other procedures will result in the appropriate disciplinary action
outlined below.

- Verbal Warning
- Behavior Ticket
- Behavior Ticket sent home to be signed
- Removal from activity or classroom
- Call home
- Office Visit
- Parent Teacher Conference

Positive Consequences
Following the rules and procedures, meeting or exceeding expectations and much more can result in the
following but not limited to what is outlined below.

- Verbal praise
- Stickers/Stars
- Raffle Ticket
- Brag Pass
- Silent Reading Time
- BYOD Time
- Small Treasure Chest Pick
- Large Treasure Chest Pick
