4.1 Objective

This Loan Application flow is designed to help you understand how to

design, implement and deploy a loan application using Oracle BPM
11g 11.1.1.7. In this lab, you will add analytics required to measure
and improve the process over time. This lab will need some initial
setup in BPM Studio to enable BAM publishing and then Process
Composer for setting up the business metrics for collection.

4.2 Use Case Description

4.2.1 Metrics for Loan Approval

As the loan application is processed, there are a few key metrics that
need to be collected . Here are some of the metrics/KPI that you might
want to track
Who has filled in the Loan application: Borrower, Loan amount,
Interest
Would like to know what type of credit rating is getting the Loan
approvals
How many applications were routed for manual processing vs.
Automatic processing This would be an area for improvement
What is the average time to qualify for a loan application this
could be a logical grouping of activities that comprise of fact
checking information.
What is average time to complete the loan fulfillment if manually
approved i.e. from disbursement to fulfillment?
% loans rejected , Avg time for Loan Application to complete
processing
Who is more efficient Review Loan Group or the Underwriter
Group?

4.2.1.1 Challenge

1. Setup an alert where the loan amount is over a certain amount

and the application has not completed processing in 5 minutes.
2. Setup the Analytics View Identifier to create Process specific
views for BI when the process is deployed. Hint this is
available in BPM Studio .

4.3 Exercise Instructions

1. Enable BAM publishing in BPM Studio in Project Preferences
2. Clear Disable Actions in EM MBean Browser

3. Setup BAM Adapter with the properties used in Step 1

4. Save the BPM Project to MDS. You can setup all the indicators
and measurement marks in Process Composer from here.
Note If you do not follow steps 1-3, the analytics created in step 5 onwards
will still be captured in the BPM Process Cubes. However, the data will only
be available to Process participants on the standards dashboards in the
workspace. To enable BAM publishing, the above steps are necessary.
5. In Process Composer , Create Business Indicators
o Measures facts/numbers
o Dimensions attributes used for grouping

o Counters for count purposes

o Time Intervals - logical grouping of activities for
measuring time as well as measuring change in a
specific Measure/Dimension

6. Deploy the Process. Check if the DataObjects are created in

BAM Architect
Note- By default the DataObjects will be created in /Samples/Monitor
Express Directory. You should see 3 generic Data objects Component,
Counter, and Interval. There will be Process Specific Data Objects as well

7. Create a Dashboard based on the metrics.
