ALTUVE and SPRINGER LEADING THE WAY

But the playing time has not tired him out, evidenced by Springers
incredible and consistent contributions. During the first three weeks
of May, Springer recorded 14 hits, including five home runs. He was
moved to the leadoff spot in the batting order on May 24, and has
been unstoppable ever since. For the months-worth of games after
that move, the Astros went 20-8 and Springer hit six home runs.

The team glided into June on a five-game win streak, and saw their
longest win streak reach seven games toward the end of the month
(June18-25). This was the longest win streak for the club since win-
ning 10 straight from July 24-May 3, 2015. Through three weeks in
June, the team was above .500 for the first time since the start of
the season, and was second in the American League West Division.

Offensively, Jose Altuve and George Springer have made strong

impressions at the plate and in the field. Jose Altuve, who led AL
second baseman in voting for the 2016 All Star Game as of June
27, also led in multiple other categories. He led all AL second base-
men in batting average (.341), on-base percentage (.423), hits (95),
doubles (21), walks (38) and stolen bases (18). Altuve also reached
base safely in 26 consecutive games in that timeframe (May 26-
June 23), good for the longest such streak in the Majors at the time.

Springer was also a crucial player for the Astros in that

span. He started 98 consecutive games, which ranked
as the third-longest games-started streak in the Ma-
jors behind Mike Trout (135) and Robinson Cano (130).

rative T-shirt and Astros logo baseball.
