Basudewa
name is taken from the puppet characters in Indonesian. This ship has an elegant and comfortable
design. Moreover, this ship is easy to construct because the simplicity of machinery and
construction system. If this ship is constructed, the estimation cost of building this ship is
US$ 706,150 that the price is comparable to facilties and comfort provided, even the existing
ship in Chao Phraya River. The uniques and advantages of M.V. Basudewa are:
1. Design. The semi planing ship design use the V-type of hull with chine. It has streamlined
and small amount to the resistance of air and water resistance because the bullet-like design
and V-type of hull. Moreover, the design of ship is resembled to the design of sight-seeing
ship type which make the view is unimpeded and the passanger feels more comfort.
2. Interior. The approach interior of ship is KRL or electric train in Indonesia. This ship
provided luggage capacity up to 20 kg.
3. Construction. The advantages of transverse frame are simple construction, easy to build,
good transverse strength, small amount of welding process and cutting.
4. Material. The material to build the ship is aluminium marine grade 5000 series. For tanks,
the material is used the 5083 series. In general, the aluminium has good strength and
elasticity to apply on shipbuilding. Moreover, the aluminium can be withstand to the
corrosion even it did not coat.
5. Fuel Oil Consumption. The capacity of fuel oil is 9.5 ton while the required fuel for one-
time fulfillment is 1.562 ton for 300 miles. It resulted this ship can travel the distance of
1824.583 miles or 3 times round-trip.
