METHOD STATEMENT FOR AIR-CON INSTALLATION

Purpose

To demonstrate the methodology to be followed in the installation of AC Split Unit


Installation.

Scope

This method statement is applicable to the installation of AC split unit at all applicable
areas and as set out in the specifications and the approved shop drawings.

Installation Details

Materials

1. CDU (Indoor Unit)


2. FCU (Outdoor Unit)
3. Copper Pipe
4. Insulation
5. PVC drainage pipe.
6. Accessories

Standards

Refer to the contract specification.

Installation Method

1. Prepare all the necessary material and tool in the working area.
2. Run copper pipe with insulation by support with hanger.
3. Install the CDU (outdoor unit) on the CDU support as per detail shop drawing, and
then connect the copper pipe to the CDU.
4. Install the FCU (Indoor unit) on the wall as per detail shop drawing, and then connect
the copper pipe to the FCU.
5. Connect the power cable for FCU and CDU.
6. Test pressure leakage with N2 35 bars
7. Vacuum system -30 In mg
8. Open the valve of CDU and Test the AC start.
9. Cover the indoor unit and outdoor unit to avoid any scratch or damage.
10. Clean the site for conclusion of work.

Safety

The contents of this method statement shall form the basis of a toolbox talk for all operatives
before the commencement of such works.

1. Safety Helmet

Risk Assessment

1. Danger of hand or other injuries from cutting tools and sharp edges.
2. Danger of Electric shock during working near transformers.
3. Danger of falls from heights.
4. Falls, knocks or trips due to poorly lit areas within the structure.
5. Danger of injury when lifting, carrying, lighting fixtures.
6. Includes danger from surroundings e.g. rebar lifting and installations and other trade
activities.

Risk Management

1. Only skilled/trained operatives shall carry out the works.


2. All operatives shall be provided with full body safety harnesses when working at
heights above three (3) meters as set out in this Method statement
Proper access and egress shall be provided by means of scaffolds and mobile towers.
3. Provide temporary lighting as required in areas subject to poor lighting.
4. When drilling all operatives shall wear a full face visor. All other operatives in the
general area of such work shall be made aware and avoid such areas.
5. Cover transformers to protect smashed materials falling from above.
6. All hand tools and extension leads shall be inspected before use to ensure they are in
good working order, with no damaged or exposed elements.
7. Leads shall be checked along their full length and plugs and sockets shall be of the
correct type and rating.
