Located in the centre of Rye, East Sussex, The George
in Rye was recently renovated to create one of the most
stunning hideaways on the south coast. The building
dates from 1575 and has an enviable heritage.

An eclectic and contemporary design has been given

to this historic fabric using a wide range of antique and
modern furniture, materials and local art. The result
is a comfortable blend of old and new, offering an
atmosphere which is relaxed, informal and individual.

We recommend the Rye Town Hall as a venue for
your civil ceremony, only a short walk from The
George in Rye. It makes for an ideal combination of
two spectacular historic venues in close proximity which
will make your day one to remember.

During the weeks prior to your Civil Ceremony, we will

be on hand to offer guidance and reassurance. On the
day itself, a senior member of the team will co-ordinate
the day’s events, so that you are able to relax and enjoy
yourself.

Our Ballroom and Benson room are also licenced for

civil ceremonies.

For more intimate occasions the 16th Century Benson
Room seats up to forty for your civil ceremony.

It can also be used in tandem with the ballroom for a

drinks reception or separate bar.

The Benson Room can also offer a private setting

for dinner with friends and family the night before
the wedding. DVD or video projection facilities are
available.

Our Ballroom dates from the Regency period and is
unrivalled for its elegance.

Floor to ceiling windows follow the length of the room

for plenty of natural daylight, while the beautiful hand-
painted silk wallpaper and antique chandeliers add
lustre in the evening.

The Ballroom can accommodate over one hundred for

ceremonies and for your reception. Plus, the room is
fully air-conditioned.
