SYNOPSIS

The tittle of this thesis is Campur Kode Pada Film Java Heat: Kajian
Sosiolinguistis. The object of this research is code mixing in Java Heats film.
This research describes the kinds of code mixing process and the function of using
code mixing. The data are taken from the conversation that is downloaded in
www.subscene.com. The method in this research is the descrptive-qualitative
method.

The theories of this research are from Muysken (2000) and Weisenberg
(2003). According to Muysken, there are there kinds of code mixing process,
which are insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. According to
Weisenberg, the reason of using code mixing are to signal social-group
membership, the inability to find an appropriate word or expression in one
language, assocation of one languange with a particular topic, exclusion of
someone from a conversation, as a display of authority.

The results of this research shows that the kinds of code mixing process found
are insertion, alternation and congruent lexicalization. Then, the reason of using
code mixing are to signal social-group membership, The inability to find an
appropriate word or expression in one language, Assocation of one language with
a particular topic, Exclusion of someone from a conversation.
