This document provides a rubric for assessing student participation in literature circles. It lists 5 criteria for evaluation: 1) a persuasive analysis of the text, 2) a range of interpretations, 3) specific textual references, 4) effective composition and language skills, and 5) thoughtful preparation and participation in discussions. For each criterion students receive a score out of two, and an overall grade out of ten. General comments are also included to provide feedback.
