Preface

The Bachelor of Fashion Technology programme is well structured and integrated

course of NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY. The main
objective of B.F.Tech. Programme is to develop skill in student by supplement to the
theoretical study of apparel mass-production. Textile internship helps to gain real life
knowledge about the industrial environment and business practices. B.F.Tech.
programme provides student with a fundamental knowledge of business and
organizational functions and activities, as well as an exposure to strategic thinking of
management.

In every professional course, training is an important factor. Professors give us

theoretical knowledge of various subjects in the college but we are practically exposed
of such subjects when we get the training in the organization. It is only the training
through which I come to know that what an industry is and how it works. I can learn
about various departmental operations being performed in the industry, which would, in
return, help us in the future when I will enter the practical field.

During this whole training I got a lot of experience and came to know about the
practices in real that how it differs from those of theoretical knowledge and the
practically in the real life.

In todays globalized world, where cut-throat competition is prevailing in the market,

theoretical knowledge is not sufficient. Beside this one need to have practical
knowledge, which would help an individual in his/her carrier activities and it is true that

Experience is best teacher.

Acknowledgement
This internship would not have been possible without the guidance and help of several
individuals who directly or indirectly, in one way or the other has contributed and extended their
valuable assistance in the preparation and completion of this report.

A project report seems to be an individual effort is in fact team work. At Shahi exports, the
mentor, department guides and supervisors whom I met, contributed to my work each day. I am
indebted to all those individuals who helped me in gaining knowledge & insight into various
aspects of mapping the process flowchart and documentation in an export house. The source of
learning have been one too many & a complete list of individual references would become
encyclopedic.

I am thankful to Mrs. Promila Rawat (HR Manager), Shahi Exports Pvt. Ltd. for the guidance
and planning out the schedule for the internship.

I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Mr. Anish Kumar, HOD Industrial Engineering
Department, Shahi Exports, Unit 2, who stood by me and guided me at each step fulfilling my
objective of the project.

I am grateful to Mr. Vikas Kumar, Manager , Shahi Exports, Unit 2 , for sharing his experience
& knowledge & without whose help the project would not have got any shape. Mr Sunil Bogal,
Senior Executive, Cutting Room helped us get acquainted to the processes involved in Cutting
Room.

My deepest appreciation also extends to Dr. Jonalee Das Bajpai, Associate Professor, Project
guide, Faculty NIFT-Bangalore, who critically reviewed my project report & provided
suggestions.

The initiation or completion of the document would not have been impossible without the
support and encouragement of Mr V. Sivalingam (Director, NIFT Bengaluru), Mrs. Sudha Singh
(Course Coordinator, MFT), Mr Assan Sheriff (Research Assistant, DFT), and other faculty
members.
