The use of peat field as a constraction area, such as agriculture, settlement area,
road, currently increases. Where as, until now people make road over peat field by
using logs, to enhanche bearing capacity and make uniform of settlement, so that it
needs clearing of forest.
By considering the reason above, this thesis try to find the other alternative instead of
logs as base of road construction over peat. Geosinthetic as a soil reinforcement
material and PC-Geosta as a soil stabilizer are tried to be implemented on the peat
by using several mixing formulas.
Since in field condition, it is not possible to dry the peat until it's optimum moisture
content, this thesis also try to compact the peat on the field water content. That are
200%, 300%, and 400%, biside it's optimum water content.
Thickness of stabilized peat is calculated by using theory of bearing capasity (slope
stability analysis) and flexible pavement design. Beside that, internal stability
including the posibility of geotextile's slip and tear.
The peat sttlement as a main problem of the peat, beside the bearing capacity, is not
examined in detail in this research, but it just calculates the posibility of consolidated
peat because of road construction loading.
