CAN MONEY BUY HAPINESS?

By Mario De la Quintana

Many people believe that money cant buy happiness. They think that love and
feelings are the most important goals in life, and we should be grateful for what we have.
In opposition, I believe that people deserve and will receive what they work hard for, and
money can buy happiness.

First, because money buy your essentials needs. It may seem a bit obvious: people
with higher incomes are, generally happier than those who struggle. They worry less about
paying their bills, they have greater choice in where they live, and they can provide
creature comforts for themselves and their loved ones. According to Dan Brown, Harvard
University psychology professor, happiness and money have a correlative statistics. After
they interviewed 1000 managers and employees around the world, they demonstrated
mathematically that equation.

Second, because the key is how and when to spend your money. Try to spend in
experiences rather than material things. Gilbert, the most important mathematic in this
time, interviewed almost all teachers of Yale University for 5 years, he found that 57% of
respondents reported greater happiness from an experiential purchase. Only 34% said the
same about a material purchase. We might think spending money on things or activities
we do by ourselves will make us happy, but a recent study says that doing things with
friends or family, even if its not as exciting, makes us happy because it fosters a sense of
togetherness and connection between us and other people.

For all of this, money cant acquire complete happiness because money alone is not
a package deal including love or any of the many other things that make us happy.
However, I am really convinced money can unquestionably buy happiness and can get rid
of the dilemmas that not having money can cause. Remember always, money give you a
chance to do whatever make you happy. Do you agree?
