What is civil engineering?

The civil engineering through the use of different models and techniques, tries to solve different
problems and satisfy varied needs of the human beings, in the traditional scope consists in the
design and construction of great infrastructure works like buildings, hydraulic works and of
transport as per Example: tunnels, bridges, ports, canals, dams, airports, roads, railway lines,
bridges. On the other hand, modernity deals with the management of urban and rural systems,
dealing with aspects such as disaster prevention, traffic control, waste management and all those
activities necessary for the well-being of society.

Its great strength is the mathematics and physics, by the field of mathematics is that all results can
be expressed numerically and by the field of physics is mainly about what consists of structures,
example: forces that apply over The structure, as well as how they support and how they are
distributed.

In general, Civil Engineering works involve the work of a large number of people, (sometimes very
many) given the type of infrastructure that is carried out and are maintained throughout the
periods ranging from a few weeks or months to several years.

In addition to all of the above, most of the infrastructure works carried out in daily life have a high
cost in their execution, a good part of the work done is for the State, or for large companies that
intend to exploit an infrastructure to long term.
