Generic Name: citicholine

Brand Name: Zynapse

Dosage: 500mg IV q8H

Indication: Cerebrovascular disease, accelerate the recovery of


consciousness and overcoming motor deficit.

Mechanism of Action:

 Citicholine activates the biosynthesis of structural


phospholipids in the neuronal membrane.
 Increase cerebral metabolism and increase the level of
the various neurotransmitter s, including acetylcholine
and dopamine.
 Citicholine has shown neuropeptide effects in situations
of hypoxia and ischemia.

Contraindications: Hypertonia of the parasympathetic

Adverse Effects: Citicholine may exert a stimulating action of the


parasympathetic, as well as a fleeting and discrete
hypotensor effect.

Nursing Responsibilities:

 Watch out for the hypotensive effects.


 Somazine must not be administered along with
medicaments containing.
Generic Name: cloxacillin

Brand Name: cloxapen

Dosage: 250-500mg at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after


food

Indication:

 Treatment of RTI, GUT infections, Skin and soft tissue


infections, oral and dental susceptible organism.
 Prevention of bacterial endocarditis after tonsillectomy or
both extraction in patients with history of rheumatic fever.
 Prevention and treatment of secondary bacterial
infections in measles, mumps, chicken pox, influenza, and
other viral infections.

Mechanism of Action:

 Cloxacillin is resistant to degradation by penicillinases. It is


particularly useful against penicillinase-producing staphylococci.

Contraindications:

 Hypernesitivity to penicillins and cephalosporin


 Allergic diathesis
 Renal impairment
 GI disturbance
 Black Hairy tongue
 Allergic skin reaction
 Urticaria
 Serum Sickness reaction
 Blood disorders
 Anaphylaxis

Adverse Effects:

 Neuropenia, Agranulocytosis, GI upsets; Rash.


 Sore mouth or tongue. Black hairy tongue.
 Increase hypoprothrombinaemic effects of oral anti-
coagulant

Nursing Responsibilities:

 Thorough assessment to the patient.


 Watch out for signs of renal impairment
 Report any unusual signs
