The Proposed Design 3 for the DLI node was chosen based on the Urban Design

keywords as follows:

Inclusiveness: The proposed design was done with spaces that work for as many

people as possible, not just some groups.

Legibility: The design was done with a layout which the users can easily understand. The

network of paths, particularly the DLI car park was redesigned with an easier path of

movement.

Hydrology: The Introduction of a water fountain at the roundabout improves the social

livelihood of the node.

Soft landscape elements: The flowers & shrubs proposed at the ISL sit out area will help

create an aura and ambience to reflect the sensibilities of the staff & students.

Accessibility: The 3 major aspects of accessibility were taken into consideration. Mobility

with the introduction of bike routes, Clear guidelines from the signage and well defined

parking areas.

Biodiversity: The conservation of biodiversity, particularly the existing steam along the

health center/commercial road boundary will help in maintaining the ecosystem.

Adaptability: The ability of the node to respond to changing social, technological,

economic & market conditions is enhanced in the design with the relocation of shops

serving passersby on the sidewalk & serving the proposed plaza.
