Job Description JOB PURPOSE & IMPACT


This position will oversee HSE activities within the laboratory and support Laboratory Instrument
Software management within a Cross-Functional in a dynamic work environment. This position will
have oversight of the campus Health, Safety, and Environment program by working closely with
the laboratory and corporate HSE partners in coordinating and maintaining laboratory chemical and
safety systems, occupant health and safety, and perform duties to ensure compliance with
regulatory standards. This position will also support the Laboratory Operations team with software
control of lab instrumentation and serve as the primary interface with IT.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work independently and with minimum supervision to manage laboratory HSE activities and the
maintenance of tracking databases.
Provide technical guidance in the areas of occupational safety for site and laboratory personnel
to identify safety hazards, evaluate processes to prevent and control risk in the work areas.
Develop and present recommendations as needed for corrective action, and execute approved
actions.
Coordinate the laboratory chemical inventory management and respond to laboratory service

Maintain laboratory licenses related to occupant health and safety, and campus laboratory waste
management.
Develop, coordinate, and monitor safety training and safety awareness programs in support of
company's hazard/risk profile.
Contribute and participate in company audits including but not limited to internal and external
regulatory agencies.
In conjunction with corporate HSE partners, coordinate site inspections to identify and correct
any employee health or safety deficiencies (e.g., housekeeping, and maintenance) and participate
in execution of related enhanced health, safety and environment processes.
Develop and implement safety metrics and coordinate a safety strategy based on behavior and
incident trend analysis. Work in conjunction with laboratory management and corporate partners
to review and coordinate safety in laboratory settings and equipment usage to ensure they meet
CAL/OSHA and Navigate Biopharma standards.
Coordinate Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) projects as needed for implementing HSE
Systems; develop and maintain HSE systems for continuous compliance with CAL/OSHA and
Navigate Biopharma standards.
Responsible for management of HSE related databases, issue tracking, and metrics reporting.
Manage external service providers such as Occupational Safety consultants
Provide daily oversight of biological and chemical waste management program
Provide support to lab instrumentation group in regards to software operations
Ensure proper Change Control management of laboratory systems
Maintain inventory of laboratory software systems to ensure compliance with regulatory and
Navigate BP and IT standards.
Collaborate with IT and LIMS teams on laboratory software projects and initiatives as they relate
to the laboratory equipment.
Interface with internal teams such as Facilities, IT, and Quality in support of HSE and laboratory
instrumentation software support
Other lab operations support or departmental duties may be assigned.

Minimum MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

Education: Bachelors in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene,
or related discipline is required.

Years of Experience Required: Minimum 6 years experience in a relevant industry setting,


providing laboratory support. Experience in clinical laboratory and/or IVD device manufacturing
required. Minimum of three (3) years experience managing complex processes and projects
desired. Laboratory operations oversight experience preferred.

Required Skill Sets & Knowledge:


o Demonstrated experience identifying, evaluating and controlling risks in a laboratory setting.
o Current knowledge of applicable government environmental and safety regulations (OSHA,

NIOSH). Cal-OSHA knowledge is preferred.


o Ability to participate in site emergency response and related exercises.
o Technical knowledge of environmental programs.
o Technical knowledge of laboratory instrumentation software applications.
o Experience developing operational programs.

o Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
