Simple present tense The accused goes to Church every Sunday.

Past Tenses

Simple past tense The assailant fled the scene.

Past progressive tense The private respondents were raised in the province.

Perfect Tenses

Present perfect tense The claimants have lived in that property for 20 years since 1972.

Present perfect progressive She has been fighting for her rights for years.

Past perfect Prior to his disappearance, he had gone to visit an acquaintances


residence.

Past perfect progressive The accused had been waiting for the right opportunity to attack.

Future perfect He will have fled the country by the time the court decides.

Future perfect progressive By the end of this year, he will have been fleeing for 10 years.

Future Tenses in English

Simple future tense He will escape to another country.

Future progressive tense The escapees will be vigilant once they manage to outrun the
authorities.
