Assignment #1
Composition review and practice

Objective: Practice with and show evidence of your understanding of compositional
terms and techniques photographers frequently use in their work.

Take photos that show your skill and understanding of the following compositional
terms:

1. Rule of thirds
2. Lines of sight/leading lines
3. Primary subject
4. Shallow depth of field (DOF)
5. Long depth of field (DOF)
6. Secondary subject (included in image with primary subject)
7. Perspective
8. Birds eye view
9. Bugs eye view
10. Interesting angle
11. Repetition
12. Shape and form
13. Texture
14. Negative space
15. Texture
16. Symmetry (symmetrical balance)
17. Asymmetrical balance
18. Frame within a frame
19. Close up or extreme closeup
20. Extra pictures: select one or more of your favorite shots that you have taken
and add it to your folder labeled favorite -- can be pre-semester

ALL PHOTOS MUST BE NEW THIS SEMESTER (except the favorite pic category)!!
Please show your best work. Be thoughtful, and not haphazard or last minute.
If you are unfamiliar or forgot what any of these terms mean, research online to
understand the term, and to look at visuals for ideas and clarification.

Compile all images into a folder in original photo format jpg required.
Name the folder with your first name and last initial (ie. MaryS)
Save on your computer desktop

Grading:
At time of grading, open up your work in Adobe Bridge and we will look at them
together to check exposure, effectiveness and quality.
