Macaroni Cheese

Popular basic pasta dish to make cheese stretch a little further

To Cook Pasta
1/3c pasta per person
2c boiling water
-1t salt (salty as the sea)
Method
1. Bring water to the boil, add salt and dried pasta
2. Simmer for 10-12 minutes until Al dente. Drain

Cheese Sauce
2T butter pata
2T flour paraoa
1c milk miraka
Season with salt tote & pepper horopito
t mustard
c grated cheese tihi
Method
1. Melt butter over low heat
2. Remove from heat and add flour, mustard, salt and pepper Horopito
3. Heat gently 1-2 minutes stirring with a wooden spoon, taking care not to burn. This is
called a roux sauce
4. Gradually stir in milk. Keep stirring until the sauce thickens and is creamy.
5. Remove from the heat and stir in grated cheese.

Ideas: can add chopped cold meat, tuna, and fresh herbs.

Garnish with sliced tomato and parsley
