Meeting Agenda

I. Call meeting to order at 9:34. Attendance. Tyler, Sereen, Kate, Q and Ruth Rassool
(advisor). Jaimie and Rachael were absent.

(1) Officer reports.

Tyler: The Reading Circle went well. We had a turnout of about 13
people, however the fundraising was not as effective as hoped. He suggests that
next semester we have the reading circle twice in order to build on interest from
the first turnout. There was overall great feedback from the event, and the leftover
food was donated to ASG to be given to the homeless students on campus.
Consensus: The Reading Circle should not be our main fundraiser.
Sereen: Did not have pop-up event due to personal reasons. Has a possible
candidate for the open Secretary position.
Kate: Kate has agreed to be the ICC rep for next semester.
II. Business
(2) Outreach
We have decided to stop pop-ups for the time being due to the stress of
finals week. If pop-ups are not possible next semester, it would be best to focus
on reaching out to the English classes. Other forms of publicity discussed
included passing out poems, riddles, crosswords, and creating a Kahoot game.
(3) Fundraising Ideas for Next Semester:
Ruth, Sereen, Tyler: Discussed how ineffective past fundraisers have been.
People seem to be very weary of free items, but free water was working for a
while.
Kate: Had a few ideas about fundraising craft ideas instead of food (Ruth
mentioned it might turn into a problem if it looks like a business startup.)
Tyler: Mentioned the idea of Pizza Rev fundraising. People who show up
with a bookmark from SKD would get a dollar off and that dollar would go to the
club.
Consensus: All decided that other forms of fundraising, such as giving
away books, having a book drive, or having craft classes would be a better way to
have outreach.
(4) Motions Made:
Tyler spent $57.02 out of pocket for the reading circle expenses. Sereen
made a motion to reimburse Tyler for his expenses at the Reading Circle. Q
Seconds the motion.
Tyler made a motion to raise a check for the total of $60 to the
membership to the national SKD. Sereen Seconds the motion.
III. Minutes:
Sereen read these minutes and the minutes from May 8th. Tyler made a motion to
approve the minutes. Q seconds the motion.
Sereen read these minutes in order to get approval due to the fact that this is the
last meeting of the semester. Tyler made a motion to approve the minutes. Q seconds
the motion.

Meeting was adjourned at 10:27.
