Course Syllabus
Course Description: Sizing of reservoirs; hydraulic analysis and design of dams, spillways, gates,
outlet works, open channels and pressure conduits; sediment transport; pipe network analysis;
theory of hydraulic machinery.
Pre-requisite: CE 16
Objective: To develop technical knowledge in the analysis and design of hydraulic structures.

Class Policies:
1. Attendance will be checked every meeting, including late arrivals. Three late arrivals will be
considered equivalent to one absence.
2. University rules shall be strictly enforced on students caught cheating and other acts of
dishonesty.
3. Exam schedules will be given at least one week ahead of time. A4-size blank answer sheets
(with name, student number and class section: stapled on the upper left) should be
submitted at least a day before the examination schedule.
4. A student may be exempted from taking the final exam if: his/her pre-final grade is 72% or
better, AND he/she does not have an exam score lower than 60%.
5. Pre-final grade computation:
a) 1-3 Exam Average ---------------- 85%
b) Seatworks/Homeworks -------- 10%
c) Attendance ------------------------- 5%
6. If a student is exempted and does not take the final exam, his/her pre-final grade becomes
his/her final grade.
7. Otherwise, his/her grade will be computed as follows:
a) 1-3 Exam Average ---------------- 55%
b) Final Exam ------------------------- 30%
c) Seatworks/Homeworks -------- 10%
d) Attendance ------------------------- 5%
8. This is a pass or fail course; no grades of INC or 4.0 will be given. If formally excused for a
missed exam, the students Final Exam score will be substituted into the missed exam; if
unexcused, his/her missed exam will be graded as zero.
