This course is an introduction to the basic concepts and topics in organizational behavior (OB) and management. The course focuses on OB at three levels:
individual, interpersonal and collective. We examine the 'people' issues in organizations including motivation, group dynamics, communication processes,
cooperation and conflict, personality differences, learning, leadership, decision-making, and others.

(Objectives) I view behavior as a product of individual, group, and organizational influences and draw upon the concepts or theories of OB to better understand behavioral
processes at these levels. Our subject matter enables our class to serve as a laboratory. We use case studies and group activities to illustrate and dramatize
issues that enable students to connect concepts to experience and theories in practice.

Regular lectures will be conducted by the instructor.

(Lecture Methods)

An assignment is a highly applied individual exercise. It involves the practical application of a technical concept that you have learned in the course prior to the submission of the assignment. As part of this assessment, you need to submit the following:

(a) Self-Portrait (4%): You have to submit a 1-2 page report on your personality. Explain what are your strengths and weaknesses. This exercise will raise your own self-awareness and you would gain self-confidence for a better leadership.

(b) Book-club (6%): To enrich your learning, you can choose any one of the books below and submit a 2-3 commentary on answering three questions: (1) What is the main argument of this book? (2) What did you find most fascinating, and why? (3) Where
do you disagree? (4) What insights will you apply to your life - and how?

(Assignment) (c) TED Talk (5%): You will watch a video on any TED talk platform available on youtube.com. You will submit a summary of this video. The video should include a finding from OB or Psychology research that is not covered in this course. Be bold: I
applaud originality.

(d) Written case reports (10%). These reports should be no more than 2 typed pages in length (double-spaced, one inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font). You need to craft a well-written analysis along with constructing appropriate paragraphs with
correct grammar and spellings.

In addition to assigned materials, students can study business magazines including Harvard Business
Review, California Management Review.
