Academic Honours, Awards, and Achievements

One of only twelve students selected for the The Physics and Applied Physics Freshman Research
Laboratory, a freshman seminar at Harvard. There was a rigorous interview process for this seminar,
which happens to be the oldest and most well-funded freshman seminar.

Youngest Speaker (by ten years) at TEDx Prabhadevi Mumbai, May, 2015. As one of only thirteen
speakers, in my talk, How To Magically Make Math Fun, I spoke about integration of math in card magic
and the importance of Intellectual Vitality. (tedxprabhadevi.com)

Selected for the Presidents Scholarship Program at Georgia Institute of Technology. One of only two
applicants from India invited to Georgia for this program.

Awarded Student of the Year for all round achievement in 11th-12th grades for academic excellence,
impactful leadership, and exemplary extracurricular involvement.

Awarded Best Innovator Award for project related vision and work over the course of two years.

Mid-Day for project related work; another, in gujarati Mid-Day (http://bit.ly/1lF5Axp) for correcting major
errors on the cover of a Physics textbook read by about 1.24 million students, and in a national magazine
Chitralekha (June 5, 2015 edition) for the speech at the TEDx event.

Project Work and Internships

PROJECT: A SELF BALANCING ROBOT

This was to be the final project for CS50. Here, my friend and I planned on building a two wheel self
balancing robot that could be controlled via a remote and thus manoeuvred about. Thus, this robot would
be able to even balance a .75% full glass whilst still moving around! We therefore ended up doing research
about IMUs, the Kalman filter, inverted Pendulums, and what PID actually is.

INTERNSHIP: LIGHTBOX VENTURE CAPITAL

As the youngest ever intern at this month long internship, I gained a very deep and practical understanding
of the venture capital industry. It was an absolute pleasure getting to hear, at first hand, views of C.E.Os
that played a crucial role in the functioning of their company. Some of the tasks I worked on included the
following: finding the most efficient monetisation models for apps, suggesting various alternative models
for the most efficient growth of an online education company, giving detailed inputs to helps improve the
UI, UX of an online food delivery app.

INTERNSHIP: THE RED PEN

At my month long internship with this counselling firm, I attempted to understand quintessential marketing
and communications tools, and programs that helped make customer databases more accessible.

PROJECT: FREE ELECTRICITY

Created an electronic module that safely amplifies, regulates, and rectifies signal from a phone line and
uses it to light LEDs or charge a cell phone. The motivation here was to make use of the constant DC supply
from phone lines, which usually isn't harnessed efficiently.

PROJECT: MAGIC FOR A CAUSE

Taught card magic to children at the Akanksha Foundation, to enable them to earn money for their
education through performing street magic.
PROJECT: STICK FOR BLIND
Worked with the National Association of the Blind, India to invent an active robotic stick (Lego Mindstorms
NXT) with six sensors as well as a GPS navigation (ADAfruit-Flora) to aid the visually impaired to walk with
stability. Currently working on using Arduino to convert the project into a marketable product.

INTERNSHIP/ PROJECT: U.P.H.I.L.L. RESEARCH DOCUMENTATION AT T.I.F.R. 20062008

Documented research at the Ultrashort Pulse High Intensity Laser laboratory at the TATA Institute of
Fundamental Research. I met regularly with Dr. Krishnamurthy to understand how he was able to accelerate
particles to 99.99999% the speed of light, not in 17km like the C.E.R.N. but in 2mm! (http://bit.ly/1P2ew04)

PROJECT: MACROSCOPIC PARTICLE ACCELERATOR

Conceptualized and attempted to recreate a macroscopic version of the particle accelerator at C.E.R.N.,
that accelerates a polypropylene ball. A step up transformer helps convert regular 230v into about 7-10kv.
This huge potential difference transfers charge onto a conducting ball that is pushed towards an adjacent
conducting strip, recursively.

PROJECT: ENERGY HARVESTER

Invented a device that recharges a phone/MP3 player while walking, using a piezoelectric sensor.
Mechanical pressure gives rise to an electric current through a piezoelectric sensor, which is then stored in
a capacitor based harvester. The voltage is stepped up and then stored in a battery.
