INT. HALLWAY - NIGHT

Two faceless bodies pinball down a dimly lit hall. The ECHO
of a house-party RAGES from downstairs.

JORDAN
Are you sure?

MEGAN
Yeah.

He KISSES her hard as they plow through a doorway, a hand


written note: KEEP OUT taped to it.

INT. BATHROOM: DOWNSTAIRS - SAME

THREE GUYS, equally, jock driven douchebags crowd over a sink


& tub. GUY 1 crushes a pill on the sink as GUY 2 roll a
dollar into a snoot. GUY 3 nervously checks the door.

GUY 3
Hurry the fuck up.

GUY 1
(Cuts three small lines)
Relax, Unless you want nice Addie
rock dripping down your throat.

GUY 3
(locks the door)
Lemmego first.

Guy 3 gags as the line hits the back of his throat.

GUY 3 (CONTD)

INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

The two fall back to the bed as he lifts her dress. The
furniture, is crafted, nice, too nice for their ages with
its designer furniture, class pictures of kids on the walls.

THE FIRST TIME WE SEE...

JORDAN PRESCOTT, 16. Dirty blond hair. Face flush from the
heavy petting, the prospect of sex. He wears slim jeans, a
flash-sale Nirvana, remake t-shirt.

He kisses MEGAN, 17. Pretty, a bit of trashiness about her.


Could be the smeared mascara. Doesnt help that her dress is
flipped half over her head, a mess of hair that spills out.

Pragmatic & uneasy, his attention pulled by a BUZZ.

MEGAN
Who is it?

Jordan looks, dismisses the text too quickly for her.

JORDAN
No one.

MEGAN
What do you mean no one? Who is it,
Jordan?

He shows her: New Message: CLARK - Yo! Whats up?... You


still coming for a visit?

MEGAN (CONTD)
Oh.

Hes right back to work.

MEGAN (CONTD)

JORDAN

MEGAN

She doesnt even know hes there, not really.

JORDAN

MEGAN

She smiles, Jordan starts to work on her dress.

MEGAN

They both work on the cheap clasp stuck in her hair.

MEGAN

MEGAN

He kicks off his shoes.

INT. DOWNSTAIRS - SAME

GUY 1, 2, 3 push passed a few lingerers on the stairs.

INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS - RESUMING

MEGAN
So, your dad is like some kind of
hero, right?

JORDAN
I guess.

He pulls his shirt over his head.

MEGAN
Thats pretty cool. Do you get
along with him?

JORDAN
Sure, I guess. But, talking about
my dad, it isnt really...
(Looks to her for help)
You know...

MEGAN
Oh, yeah. Sorry.

They both fumble for the buttons on his SLIMMY Levis.

MEGAN (CONTD)
Jesus, Jordan. You act like this is
your first time.

Her dress completes Its journey to the floor. Jordans pants


drop precariously to his ankles.

Both stare at each other for a moment. Shes far more


developed than him & he knows it.

MEGAN (CONTD)
Holy shit, it is.

JORDAN
What? No.

MEGAN
It is?

Embarrassed by the truth.

JORDAN
Whatever... Fuck Megan. I just--

MEGAN
--Its okay...
(Seductively)
I dont care.

She pushes him back onto the bed, climbs on.

She grabs the condom he has in his hand, her hand slowly
moves down... down... down. His face says it all.

She pops back up as a thought hits her.

MEGAN (CONTD)

She lifts her hands.

JORDAN
(Frustrated)
--I know. I know. Everyone just
figures.

She undoes her bra, Jordan stutters as her hands fall &
places his on her.

MEGAN
Dont be so sensitive.
(She smiles devilishly)
We can change that.

She heads back down south... ...

JORDAN
Oh, fuck.

BINGO! Jordans eyes roll into the back of his head.

INT. HALLWAY - SAME

The 3 GUYS make their way to the top of the stairs.

GUY 1
You said he came up here.

GUY 2
He did. Im telling you , bro, I
saw him and Megan.

GUY 1
So, hes fucking?

GUY 3
Nice.

GUY 1
Shut up. Were not peeping toms.

GUY 2
Yeah, but I bet Megan's got some
great tits.

Guy 3 shakes his head with eager enthusiasm.

GUY 1
You both are fucking retarded. I
want my money back... Thats it.

They make their way down the hall listening to each of the
doors. Until--

Guy 2 stops at Jordans door.

GUY 2
(whispers)

GUY 1

Guy 2 puts his ear to the door.

JORDAN (O.S.)
Oh fuck. Yeah.

Guy 1 listens in.

GUY 1
(Whispers)

(Using his fingers)

INT. BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Megan rides Jordan, the CRASH through the door sends her to
the ground hard as Jordan attempts to get up.

GUY 1
(Pushes Jordan back down)
Oh yeah, bitch.

JORDAN
(Pushes a blanket to
Megan)
What the fuck?

Megan covers herself.

MEGAN
Get the fuck out, you assholes.

GUY 1
You thought you could rip me off?
Well, this is the reckoning.

JORDAN
(Reaches for his pants)
The reckoning? What the fuckr you
talking about?

GUY 1
That Adderall you sold me might as
well be chewing gum, dude.

GUY 2
You think this is a joke?

JORDAN
(Covers his laugh)

(Slides on his Cons)
You think anyone else is going to
sell you shit if you beat the hell

(Turns to #1 with a smirk)
See, what youre going to--

WHAM! Guy 1 HITS him without another word or thought. The


shot sends Jordan to the ground, HARD.

Megan tries for Jordan, shes quickly shut down by guy 3.

MEGAN
Hey!

GUY 3
(To Megan)
This isnt your fight, Megan.

GUY 1
(To Jordan)
Come on. Get up bitch.

Jordan holds his bloody nose in one hand, with the other in
the air, like a Time OUt as he gathers back to his feet.

JORDAN
Okay, okay. Fine. Ill give you
back your money.

GUY 1
I know.

JORDAN
Hang on.

GUY 1
No more Bullshit.

JORDAN
No more bullshit. Its right here.

Jordan reaches into one of his pockets as he stands.

GUY 1
Quit dragging this out.

JORDAN
I got it right here.

Jordan drops a handful of small bills. WHAM!

GUY 2s nose is CRUSHED, it splatters blood over the room.

JORDAN (CONTD)
(shakes his hand out)
Oh fuck, that really hurt.

MEGAN
Go! Run.

Jordan shoves pushes past GUY 1 to get out the door over GUY2
in AGONY on the ground. #3 gives chase as #1 wipes blood from
his face & follows behind.

SERIES OF SHOTS -

- JORDAN RUNS DOWN THE HALL TO THE STAIRS.

He looks back to see Megan stand with a blanket over herself.

- THE GUYS MAKE THEIR WAY BEHIND HIM.

- JORDAN JUMPS THE LAST FEW STEPS INTO THE CHAOS OF A TEEN
HOUSE PARTY AND STARTS CUTTING THROUGH THE CROWD OF TEENS.

- THE GUYS SHOVE THEIR WAY THROUGH THE PARTY LIKE ASSHOLES..

- OUTSIDE - 4 BLACK & WHITE Police cruisers roll up with


LIGHTS & SIRENS SCREAMING as the teens in the front scatter.

- SOMEONE YELLS COPS THAT CAUSES A MASS EXIDUS.

- OUTSIDE THE KIDS SPREAD WITH A QUICKNESS.

- JORDAN DIVES THROUGH AN OPEN OPEN WINDOW INTO A POOL OF 60+


TEENS IN SELF PRESERVATION MODE.

- THE GUYS GET CAUGHT UP BEHIND THE SCATTERING MADNESS.

- JORDAN LANDS HARD ON THE GRASS, SCRAMBLES TO HIS FEET.

He SLAMS into something human, something hard. He throws a


punch on instinct that lands flush.

ON THE GROUND: A cop laid out cold, His cheek split open.

Jordan raises his hands.

JORDAN
Fuck me.

Hes SACKED by TWO officers.

Hes handcuffed roughly with his face in the dirt.

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM C - LATER

SPECIAL AGENT WILLIAM PRESCOTT, Early 40s. Older, A close


match to Jordan. The man is pissed, sweat beads on his brow.

(NOTE - STAY ON WILL - DONT SHOW WHO HE SPEAKS TO.)

WILL
I know what youre going through
here. I cant help you if you dont
give me a little trust.

INT. OFFICE - LATER

(NOTE: STAY ON JORDAN - DO NOT SHOW WHO HE SPEAKS TO).

Jordans lays his head onto a stainless steel table.

JORDAN
Trust you? Are you kidding? Your
job is literally the everything
that goes against trust. You lie
for a living.

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM A - SAME

Will stands stern, unbudging. Hes pissed!

WILL
I dont think you know how serious
this is, do you?

OFFICE - JORDAN - SAME

Jordan doesnt look up.

JORDAN
I got a good idea why Im here.

ROOM A - WILL

Will looks down.

WILL
The prosecutors are going to love
this. All you got to do is tell me
something, anything.

OFFICE - JORDAN - SAME

Jordan rolls his eyes before he lifts his head.

JORDAN
Dont I get a phone call?

ROOM A - WILL

Will PRESSES & exit button.

WILL
Who wants to hear from you?

Another agent pops his head into the small chicken-wire,


laced glass window.

WILL (CONTD)
One coming out.

Behind Will, handcuffed to a table, well dressed, boss


motherfucker. MANUEL SALAZAR, a 40s, Latino. A calm, yet
evil demeanor vibrates off him.

INT. DEA BULLPEN - CONTINUOUS

Will walks out with AGENT 1. A fresh faced, junior Agent, 6


months in the field.

WILL
Let him stew for a bit, then put
him outside my office.

AGENT 1
Copy that.

Will walks away through a bullpen of agents on phones,


computers all young versions of him. Each watch him pass.

Through the room, he makes it to a door & KNOCKS.

WILL
Can I come in?

Jordan turns his head away from Will in the door. Scott
ushers him in.

SCOTT
Your office, boss.

INT. OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

Clean-cut, proud, all business black man. SPECIAL AGENT SCOTT


MORRISON, Mid 30s.

SCOTT
This kid doesnt listen.

Jordan rolls his eyes.

WILL
(Sarcastically)
Maybe I can crack him.

SCOTT
Your kid, all yours.

Scott steps into the doorway & turns back.

SCOTT (CONTD)
Youre better than this and you got
a chance to decide--

JORDAN
--Yeah, whats that?

SCOTT
There are two types of men on this
planet. The kind of man that stands
up to his problems and the kind
that runs from them. What kind of
man do you want to be?

Jordan tosses a look of thought & FUCK YOU all at once.

BULLPEN - SAME

MANUEL plops down into an uncomfortable chair with permanent


hand & ankle cuffs attached outside Wills office.

He watches Will & Jordan intently as Scott steps out.

SCOTT
What the fuck are you looking at,
shitbag?

MANUEL
(in Spanish)
I want my phone call, bitch.

SCOTT
Sit down.

AGENT 1 sets Manuels cuffs with a few extra CLICKS. Manuel


ignores the Agent, maintains his gaze into the room.

WILLS OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

Will stands over Jordan, an intense stare over as Jordan


drums his foot nervously... Before Will pulls Jordans chair
out. They stand eye-to-eye... They both fall into a hug.

JORDAN
Im sorry, Dad.

WILL
Im glad youre okay.

JORDAN
Yeah. Im fine, Thanks.

WILL
You know youre grounded?

BULLPEN - SAME

Manuel sits at a desk & watches the agents mill about.

A buried file has Jordan's picture clipped to it.

Manuel T-rexs the papers on top & tilts his head to read the
file: JORDAN PRESCOTT: GRANT HIGH SCHOOL: PRIORS: MISDEMEANOR
ASSAULT - SIMPLE BATTERY: TRUANCY - MISDEMEANOR POSS. OF
MARIJUANA

Manuel looks down to a stack of files, under the pack, a post-


it reads: Your Kids Report he glances up to Jordan.

INT. OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

Jordan leans over his fathers desk. A mass of graphic CRIME


SCENE photos are quickly shuffled away by Will.

JORDAN
Whatd mom say?

WILL
She cried of course. Thinks youre
going to join a gang or something.

JORDAN
(Smiles)
I dont think were there, yet.

WILL
I dunno, punching a cop. Pretty
hardcore... You need a gesture. I
want you to go home and do
something very nice for her.

JORDAN
Like what?

WILL
I dont know, but I think the
bigger, the better.

JORDAN
(Sarcastically)
You mean like dishes?...

Will throws a You got to be fucking kidding me look.

JORDAN (CONTD)
Got it, like BIG, bigger.

Thats better!

JORDAN (CONTD)
What about the cop?

WILL
Hell heal. His pride, not so much.

JORDAN
Glad to hear it.

WILL
What the hell were you doing?

(Unsure of his answer)
I... Thought he was someone else.

Will smiles as a RUCKUS erupts from outside the room. Both


Jordan & Will look out the blinds.

INT. BULLPEN - SAME

A junkie gets loose from his handlers, swings a chair,


SPLITTING open an Agent as the rest of the room swarms him.

Jordans eyes meet Manuels as they lock in on one another.

INT. WILL'S OFFICE - CONTINUOUS

WILL
(Closes the blinds)
And give up all this?

Manuel & Jordan continue their gazes through the slits.

WILL (CONTD)
Jordan?

The words break the stare as Jordan turns & smiles.

WILL (CONTD)
You gonna be okay?

JORDAN
Yeah. You?

WILL
Go make your mom happy and Ill let
you know.

JORDAN
Happy wife, happy life?

WILL
(Smiles at the thought)
Get the hell out of here.

Will takes a seat as he grabs a file, IT READS:MORENO CARTEL.

JORDAN
Hey Dad?...

Will looks up.

JORDAN (CONTD)
Im sorry... And I love you.

WILL
(Smiles)
I love you, too... Now go.

BULLPEN - SAME

Scott slams Jordans file shut on Manuel.

MANUEL (ENGLISH)
How about that call?

The two men stare at one another.

INT. FEDERAL BUILDING - CONTINUOUS

Jordan puts his headphones on at the elevator.

INT. WILL'S OFFICE - SAME

Scott knocks once & enters.

SCOTT
(Looks at Manuel)
What are we doing about this?

WILL
Is he annoyed?

SCOTT
Yeah.

WILL
Good, cut him loose.

SCOTT
Really?

WILL
I got nothing to hold him on.

SCOTT
You got it.

Scott leaves, Will looks out to the open bullpen.

EXT. FEDERAL BUILDING/BOTTOM OF THE STEPS - MOMENTS LATER

Concrete steps lead to busy pavement.

Jordan steps into the street, a SCREECH of tires, a BLACK SUV


stops short as Jordan braces for impact & throws a WTF? up.

Blacked out windows, Jordan cant see inside.

JORDAN
Really?

Jordan looks back to the parked, motionless SUV.

EXT. FEDERAL BUILDING/TOP OF THE STEPS - CONTINUOUS

Manuel walks down the steps to the SUV parked in the red.

Will & Scott come out the double doors, they watch as Manuel
opens the door, stops, looks back before he gets in.

SCOTT
This is gonna be a problem, right?

WILL
Yup.

SCOTT
Want me to put a tail on him?

WILL
(Nods to Manuel)
Not yet, I dont want him changing
things up.

INT. MARCO'S SUV - CONTINUOUS

Manuel pours out a MANILLA envelope into his hands, wipes &
places his SUNGLASSES on as they drive away.

The driver, a clean-cut man with an intense scowl. Dressed


well, pride taken in his attire, style. A Mexican gangster.
MARCO SANTIAGO, 37, watches Manuel in the mirror.

Marco peers to the top of the steps at Scott & Will.

MANUEL (SPANISH)(OS)
I pay a lot of money to ensure I
dont have situations like this.

Marco looks to Manuel in the mirror who looks back at him.

MANUEL (CONTD)
This cop, this fucking pig of a
cop... I think its time we set a
standard with Agent Prescott and
his fucking cop buddies.

EXT. RESIDENTIAL STREET - EVENING

Jordan skates down the street, two full grocery bags in hand.

a BLACKED-OUT SUV paces Jordan.

Up a drive, he sets his bags down at the door, digs for his
keys before spotting his tail & turns to it.

The car doesnt wait to drive off quickly.

JORDAN
Psycho freak.

INT. JORDANS HOUSE - NIGHT (DUSK)

Roses, a half eaten meal, burned candles, an empty bottle of


wine, a card that reads mom litter the dinner table.

Beyond the dining room, Will comes into focus with a


beautiful woman on the couch in the living room.

WILL
Hes a good kid.

This beauty, KAREN PRESCOTT, 39. A calm exterior, inside, she


fumes as Will attempts to talk her down.

KAREN
Is he? Because this seems like an
out of control kid to me.

WILL
Hes not out of control. Hes a
teenager.

KAREN
I think you are in denial.

WILL
And youre reading into it. Whats
the worst thing you did as a teen?

KAREN
That was a different time.

WILL
(He holds her hand)
Bad kids dont know they screw up
and fix it with romantic dinner.

KAREN
You had nothing to do with this?

OOOPS!

WILL
What? No.

She smiles. He smiles

KAREN
Uh huh.

WILL
Even if I did, he chose this and he
knows right from wrong. The kids I
get, dont do this. Hes fucked up.
Weve all done it.

KAREN
(Smiles)
If he does it again, Ill kill him.
(Grabs Wills shirt)

(Kisses him.)

EXT. SIDE OF THE HOUSE - SAME

Jordan on his phone, a cigarette on his lip.

SUPERIMPOSE: ALL TEXT IN BUBBLES.

JORDAN (TEXT)
Im not dead yet.

MEGAN (TEXT)
I miss you.

JORDAN (TEXT)
I miss you, too.

Jordan drags from his cigarette, leans towards the fence, On


the other side, movement. He steps up the crossbar. A black
SUV stops in front of the house, lights out.

JORDAN (SOTO) (CONTD)


You have got to be shittin me?

He leans in closer. Closer. DARK BODIES get out. BUZZZ! He


ducks down. The phone scares the shit out of him.

MEGAN (TEXT)
... ??? ... ...

JORDAN (TEXT)
Hang on.

MEGAN (TEXT)
Whats going on?

Jordan climbs back up: THREE shadowy figures cross the lawn.

Unsure what hes sees, he leans closer: THREE MEN, head to


toe black, ski mask, M4 ASSAULT RIFLES in hand.

JORDAN (TEXT)
Cops! NOW!

He flicks the cigarette butt away, makes his way around the
back of the house before it lands.

INT. KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS

Jordan burst through the back sliding doors. Karen grabs him,
they both panic.

KAREN
What are you doing? Are you
smoking?

JORDAN
(Hunches down, whispers)
Wheres dad?

KAREN
I asked you a question, Jordan?

JORDAN
(Whispers)
Mom, listen to me, wheres dad?

Karen looks to the swinging kitchen door as a KNOCK at the


door is heard. She turns to go, Jordan pulls her back.

JORDAN (CONTD)
Wait, Dad!

Jordan pushes past his mom a HANDGUN rings out. Jordan pulls
Karen down behind an island countertop.

KAREN
Whats going on?

GUNFIRE speaks back & fourth from the other room.

JORDAN
Shhhh.

Jordan peeks out, Will flies through the door, wounded, he


looks down to Jordan & Karen.

WILL
GET OUT!... GO!

He turns around & fires three more shots at the distant


silhouettes that take cover down the hall.

Gunfire returns as the wood door explodes under the rapid


semi-automatic fire. Bullets rip apart the door Will.

Wills blood splatters the back wall & Jordans face.

KAREN
Will!

Karen fights Jordan to let go of her as she scrambles to get


to her husband.

The masked push through the door, Stand over Will & Karen.

KAREN (CONTD)
What do you want? Please!

One man lifts up a GOLD, JEWEL-ENCRUSTED, COLT .45 1911.

Still alive, Will struggles for breath. Karen lifts her hand
to shield them from the gun.

The man pulls his mask back to reveal his face... Its Marco.

The two other gunmen walk to either side of him.

MARCO (ENGLISH)
(to Will)
This is only the beginning.

Marco fires, the round blows through Karens hand & face.

POV - JORDANS: MARCOS REFLECTION IN THE SLIDING WINDOWS.

Covered in blood, soft tissue, Will reaches for Karen & runs
his fingers into her blood stained, sticky hair.

Jordan holds a hand over his mouth as he fights & bites the
fear & anger brew inside to fight or run, to do something.

Marco blast two more rounds as Jordan jerks at the loud,


hallow explosions & flashes of light fill the room & Wills
hands fall in the glass reflection.

MARCO (CONTD)
Find the kid.

All three men leave the kitchen.

LIVINGROOM ROOM -

One cuts left & goes upstairs. One goes right & into the
garage from the living room.

Marco moves into the living room & takes a drink of the wine
before throwing the glass against the wall.

KITCHEN -

Jordan stands & looks at his parents. Tears run down his
face. The blood begins to pool around his feet.

He looks to the door & can see the shadows of a man in the
gap on the floor.

He turns & leaves through the patio door closing it just as


Marco comes back in the room.

IN THE YARD -

Jordan darts across the backyard to the side of the house,


with each step a smudged, bloody footprint left behind him as
he jumps the fence to the frontyard.

KITCHEN -

Marco turns to leave the room, Stops... Looks to the ground &
sees the bloody foot prints leading out the door.

MARCO
OUTSIDE!

FRONT YARD -

Jordan makes it over the fence & across the front yard.

& hides being the black SUV & checks to see if hes been
spotted before wiping his face of tears clouding his vision &
sees the blood for the first time.

BACKYARD -

Marco follows the bloody footsteps to the gate & instantly


starts to climb it.

BUZZZZ!

Jordan pulls out his phone to see a message from Megan:

MEGAN (TEXT)
Theyre on the way!

In the distance, the HIGH PITCH of POLICE SIRENS.

He stands up, takes a picture of the license plate.

BANG!

Bullet STRIKES hit the rear taillight near Jordan, it


explodes over Jordan who ducks from the plastic shards, looks
up to Marco, the two hold fast in their gaze.

ON JORDAN -

Confusion & anger under complete & real fear.

ON MARCO -

A calm & steady hatred.

ON JORDAN -

Jordan ducks behind the drivers side of the car, looks to his
right, the HUM/glow of the POLICE LIGHTS in the far distance.
Another BULLET strikes just beside him.

The other two men come out the front door, They fire in
Jordans direction. A CLIP SLIDES out & FALLS TO THE GROUND,
He darts across the yard low, fast to a wood fence.

Marco FIRES round after round. The wood fence Jordan scales
explodes under the fire.

Marco looks to still far off POLICE LIGHTS, GUY 1 jumps in


the SUV as Marco stands in the street.

Marco steps into the SUV, turns back to Jordan in the


distance. He makes it over another fence in the distance.

Tom grabs another 12 pack from the cooler, looks back to see
Jordan throw a few things under his shirt.

JORDAN

(Walks out of the store.)

EXT. GAS STATION - DAY

Jordan turns to the small screen at the pump. It finishes a


story about a State-line Lotto winner & turns to a story
about him. A photo of him on the screen as Scott talks.

Tom rounds the corner as Jordan pulls the pump hurriedly.

The Employee on the far pump looks over for a brief moment &
sees Jordan. No reaction.

Jordan lights up another smoke as he stares out into the


faded sunlit landscape, tears grow, begin to fall.

Tom opens his eyes for a brief moment, sees, says nothing
before he closes his eyes.

Almost like graffiti, a whiteboard covered behind a large


table. A busy phone bank has agents scurry.

A modest press room, no press. State, Fed. & Local law


enforcement fill the seats, listen intently as Scott stands
at the head of the room with another, white, haired Agent.

A similar board from Wills office is pinned up behind Scott.

Scott moves to the center of the room.

Now in our backyard.

DESERT:

piles dirt on the body. A FLASH of light slumps the cholo
into the hole with Jaimie. Marco stands over the bodies.

Scott & Brad head inside as agents scour the scene outside.

INT. GAS STATION - MANAGERS OFFICE - MOMENTS LATER

Scott, Brad & few other Agents are gathered around a single
TV monitor on top of a safe next to a messy desk as the
nervous, TWEAKED out MANAGER cues up footage from yesterday.

16 small cube images pop on the screen.

BRAD
Maybe just the ones outside on the
pumps.

A few buttons pressed, images change to 6 images, then 3.

SCOTT
Fast forward.

ATTENDANT
If you tell me what youre looking

SCOTT

Well most of what we get around
here is trucks, I dont remember

A few buttons, a single image takes up the screen. The top


reads PUMP 4, he fast forwards to the point when a familiar,
white Chrysler that pulls up. Jordan gets out.

Jordan starts to pump gas, an unsteady Tom walks to the


store. Jordan follows shorty.

ATTENDANT
Look! Its the kid from the TV.

Scott & Brad look at one another as the Manager starts to


press buttons, the screens change to inside.

BRAD
Fast forward again.

The image speeds up until Jordan speaks with Tom as he starts


towards the cooler. Jordan walks out of frame.

SCOTT
Who the fuck is this guy?

BRAD
(To Scott)
Jordan look scared to you?

ATTENDANT
I remember this kid. Him and the
old timer talked, they were cool.

A few key strokes, the image changes to a wide shot of the


highway entrance as the car exits & heads north.

Manager flips forward, as Scott leaves the room and Brad


pulls his phone.

Scott moves across the floor to the same aisle Jordan was in.
He looks up to place himself in the same spot as Jordan.

The skyline of a city below. Toms white Chrysler exits a

Tom reaches behind the seat, pulls out an MRE. Jordan smiles.

EXT. RESIDENTIAL STREET - NIGHT

A woman runs with her little JACK RUSSEL dog down the dark
street, only lit by one street lamp every 50 feet.

A black SUV pulls up next to the woman, it passes, from


behind, only 1 tail light glows.

MARCO
Excuse me?

She stops, looks into the SUVs window. Takes a step forward.

EXTREME WIDE:

A small flash of light. The woman slumps to the ground hard.

EXT. JORDANS HOUSE - NIGHT

A police cruiser parked. A strange blue glow from inside.

INT. POLICE CRUISER -

A uniformed cop sits in his cruiser. An iPhone in hand. He


plays CLASH OF THE CLANS. Looks up to see another dog walker
coming his way, backlit by the infrequent street lamps.

OUTSIDE - JORDAN'S HOUSE - CONTINUOUS

Within feet, the dog walker passes the officer. The COP looks
up just in time for the first flash of light.

The round BURST through the glass, the officer, the headrest
as the officer attempts to flee, Marco FIRES 3 more rounds,
the HITS spin the officer to the ground.

Marco stands over the officer, a GUSH of blood from a hole in


his neck. Marco watches the life leave him as the dog BARKS
and Jerks at the leash in Marcos hand.

Marco looks if hes garnered attention.

He swings the barrel up, without a look or hesitation. A


small FLASH of light, a YELP as the leash goes limp.

INT. JORDANS HOUSE -

Marco moves through the dark entry, into the living room.

THE DEN -

Marco picks up Jordans phone, the note, he crumbles it


before he puts it into his pocket.

Marco fixes the disturbed blinds from Jordans escape, pulls


out his phone and dials.

MARCO (SPANISH)
They dont have him.

Upstairs he opens a door: Will & Karens room. He moves slow,


intently inside, opens a drawer, Karens underwear, he pulls
a pair, runs his finger over them. Puts them back.

He opens another door: A bathroom. He passes it.

JORDANS ROOM - UPSTAIRS

Posters line the walls. NIRVANA, GREEN DAY, SOUND GARDEN,


SMASHING PUMPKINS. 90s alternative/ rock.

A dresser mirror combo against the wall has pictures,


scattered homework on the top of the counter.

In the edges of the mirror are pictures of:

- Will & Karen. Marco runs his fingers down the images.

- Jordan holds a bass guitar.

- CLARK (Well meet him later) holds a pair of drumsticks.

- Jordan & Megan hug in a high school hallway.

Marco stops there, pulls Megans picture from the its wedged
position, looks at it closer, grabs all of the pictures.

EXT. SALT LAKE CITY METRO BUS STOP - NIGHT

Jordan eases to stop in front of a closed family restaurant


next to a bar closing for the night as the crowd ushers out.

Jordan shuts off the engine.

TOM
Well, I guess this is it.

Tom looks at him for a moment.

shakes his hand, walks off into the night through the crowd

Jordan walks off into the night as Tom watches him go.

ON JORDAN - MOMENTS LATER

A few occasion car pass Jordan, he watches over his shoulder,


stays close to the wall of the storefronts. One behind him
moves to slow for comfort as he checks the reflection... Its
pacing him. Hes fucked!

He steps up his pace, the car does too. The end of the block
is too far away. Jordan turns to the car, blinded by the
lights, he shields his eyes.

TOM

EXT. FOREST LAWN CEMETERY - DAY

HUNDREDS of Unformed Cops and thier cruisers parade into the


gates. A hearse guided by Scott, Brad, A rough looking,
MILLER and JACKSON. In suits but look like they care right
off the fields of Afghanistan with thier burley builds and
shaggy beards.

GRAVE SITE - MOMENTS LATER:

A priest finishes his words as a large flag is folded with


honor and precision.

An empty seat at the head of the grave that Scott stares at.

EXT. HIGHWAY - DAWN

The Chrysler is parked on the side of the highway under a


Welcome to Idaho - The Gem State sign, seemingly empty.

INT. CAR - MOMENTS LATER

In the backseat, Jordan, sweaty in the hot desert sun is


curled next to an empty pack of Winstons & a .38 that he
grabs as the WOOOSH of a car wakes him. He jerks up.

He lights a cigarette, focused on the flame.

A car approaches in the opposite direction. He pulls from the


smoke, follows the car with his eyes as it closes in, its a
STATE TROOPER who locks eyes with Jordan.

The cop does nothing as Jordan shakes out the night, takes a
drag & looks back to the mirror.

A few miles back, under the haze of the hot asphalt, RED &
BLUE lights spin up coming his way, fast, he turns in place.

JORDAN
Fuck me.

Jordan throws his smoke out & slides over the bucket seat &
turns over the car. NOTHING.

JORDAN (CONTD)

He turns it over again. LIFE, he PEELS out onto the road.

HIGHWAY -

Police cruiser gains as Jordans shitty Chrysler into a REST


AREA with sleeping overnight families & truckers.

Half way through the parking lot, the cruisers flies in.

INT. CAR - REST AREA - SAME

He guns the engine around the back of the cinderblock


bathrooms, grabs his bag, steadies the wheel, opens his door,
jumps out, tumbles near the building.

The car continues, crashes through a fence into a cornfield.

EXT. COP CAR - SAME

Rounds the corner of the bathrooms, Jordan gets behind a


dumpster near the side of the building.

The cop pulls in behind the Chrysler as the car drifts to a


stop against the tall stalks.

JORDAN - BEHIND THE COP

The cop stops behind it, exits, gun drawn.

STATEY
This is the Idaho state police.
Exit the vehicle.

Behind the cop, Jordan sneaks around the corner. A few


travelers pass him to see whats the commotion.

REST AREA ENTRANCE -

Another Trooper FLIES through the entrance.

ON JORDAN -

The cop passes Jordan as he does his best to blend in.

He sees the trooper pull in with his lights on & cruise


through the parking lot.

Jordan slides in between two truck wheels as the trooper


passes by.

He looks up & sees a sign on the back of the truck SIMPLOT


COMPANY - JEROME IDAHO

Jordan lifts the gate arm, jumps into the rig.

INT. RIG -

Jordan slowly moves past farm equipment & climbs to the front
of the rig & sits quietly listening for the cops.

EXT. STREET - DAY

Marco sits in his car with photos of Jordan. A BELL RINGS.

EXT. GRANT HIGH SCHOOL - L.A. STREET - CONTINUOUS

Dozens of teens move about. In the mix of faces, one stands


out. Its Megan with friends.

EXT. OUTSIDE CAMPUS - SAME

Marco watches her then checks the photo.

EXT. TRUCK - DUSK

A big rig AIRBRAKES to a STOP, the TRUCKER, a burley, heavy


man gets out & rounds to the back of his truck.

The door swings slightly, he pulls his TIRE BATON, climbs in.

TRUCKER
Alright, get your ass out here.

Over the top of the equipment, he gets to the front, lands at


a clearing someone has made. A bed made with FURNIPADS.

He pulls a small MAGLITE, shines it over the space, finds a


mess of hair trimmings, hair dye, empty water bottles.

EXT. JEROME HIGH SCHOOL - DAY

A large front entrance. Like a courthouse or a church. Its


clean, modern. A bell RINGS out.

A few seconds go by... Nothing. Then, the doors fly OPEN,


dozens of kids break though into the parking lot.

No ones seems to rush. Talking, laughing as they go. Some


look over to the unfamiliar face with a hoodie on.

A familiar face closes in, Its the drummer from the pictures
on Jordan's mirror with a few friends, CLARK, 17 walks past,
pays no attention to Jordan.

JORDAN
(Just above a whisper)
Hey. Clark.

Clark doesnt hear him.

JORDAN (CONTD)
(louder, sharper)

Clark stops, confused.

On Jordan: His hair a bit shorter, messy, it lays jet black


just above his eyes. WE BARELY RECOGNIZE HIM.

Clark squints to take in the person in front of him.

A top window burns bright on the dark street.

Megan changes in the window.

Darkened window across from Megans, Marco sit in shadows. He


wipes blood from a LARGE knife on the bed.

Behind him, a husband & wife lay dead against the wall, their
eyes glazed over. A glare to a frightened teen, alive, DAVID
(16( is hogtied, gagged & beaten.

MARCO
I bet you sat here once or twice
before, havent you?...

He turns to the tear soaked David, MUMBLING under his gag.

MARCO(CONTD)

The stairs have the photos dropped, shattered on the steps.

Upstairs is much of the same. Tossed, trashed. In the bedroom


doorway, mom & dads bodies lay lifeless, the room blood
soaked, in the closet, David hangs lifeless by a belt from
the rod above, the knife in his limp hand.

THE WINDOW:

Marco stops at a neighbors trash can, dumps a pillow case


that CLINKS & SHATTERS before he drives away.

Megan looks out the window, she closes the curtains.

EXT. REST AREA - LATER

A helicopter spins up dust & loose brush as it lands in the


center of the Caution Taped off rest area.

The whole lot teams with federal, state & local law
enforcement as news trucks and media storm about.

Scott & Brad exit the windy, static chopper as officers hold
their hats on.

BRAD
Deputy.
(Scott shuts up)

The State Trooper that followed Jordan meets them with


Handshakes. STATEY, 44.

The three of them cross the lot to where Jordan left the car
in the feild behind the restrooms.

One of the cholos hands him a BERETTA 9mm, he pulls the SLIDE

The drivers window shatters & the officers head explodes.

Brad looks up to see 7 heavily armed, masked men move


tactically down the street. An 8th perched on top of an SUV
with a HIGH POWERED RIFLE.

Jackson FIRES back to them as Miller & Scott pull Clark & Sam
from the car.

MILLER
Break on contact.

BRAD
Get my family inside.

Brad moves to the other side of the car & starts laying down
FIRE causing them to scatter.

INSIDE THE HOUSE -

Jordan cant believe what he sees outside as the bullets


start to RIP apart the police cruiser & Clark & Sam stay low
making Their way to the house with Jackson SHOOTING over the
top of them.

OUTSIDE -

COP 3 breaks out his shotgun & gets off 3 solid ROUNDS
SPLINTERING a tree near one of Marcos men before taking two
rounds in the CHEST & one in the NECK.

He falls to the ground attempting to pull himself to cover


before bleeding out as his dead eyes look at Scott.

SCOTT
BREAK CONTACT!

Scott spins back up & fire three SHOTS hitting one man with
two of them. One hits him in the head dropping him hard &
fast to a SLUMP.

The cholos increase their FIRE as Miller, Scott, Brad & two

The last Uniformed officer stands by the side of the window


looking at the yard, careful not to expose himself.

Brad walks up to the window uses the barrel to move the


blinds & pops off three ROUNDS through the GLASS.

BRAD
(Uniformed Cop)
Get down.

All hell break loose as BULLETS breach the WALLS, BREAKS the
rest of the windows throwing GLASS & DRYWALL over them.

Brad lays flat on his back & laughs nervously.

Jackson finishes his low crawls to the kitchen door.

Brad looks to Jackson & smiles & nods to the Uni in the
corner in a basic fetal position. Jackson smiles back at him.

Brad crawls over to the side of the window & perches up. He
looks back to see Jackson already gone.

BRAD (CONTD)

UPSTAIRS - BATHROOM -

Sam cries softly to herself in the corner of the bathroom


holding Clark tightly.

Jordan stands in the door with his backpack over his


shoulder.

Scott struggles to push a dresser with one good arm down &
into the staircase.

The GUNFIRE downstairs stays intense & visceral.

Scott moves back into a bedroom door & starts to SLIDE

Jordan steps out, grabs one end, they SHOVE it into the door.

Scott rounds the back side & pulls as Jordan pushes it half
way into the bathroom from his end, fills the doorway.

Scott pokes over the top of the couch.

JORDAN (CONTD)

(Walks out)

He looks to Clark & Sam on the ground, they bounce & shake in
fear on the ground of the bathtub to every GUNSHOT.

SCOTT
(Struggles to get out)
Fuck.

UPSTAIRS - BACK MASTER BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS

Jordan goes straight to a bedroom window, looks out at the


OPEN corn & potato fields behind the house.

He opens the window. One of Marcos men sees him, stands &
FIRES rounds that pepper the wall & ceiling above him.

Jordan drops to the ground.

I/E. KITCHEN -

Jackson peers out the window, A Cholo FIRES upstairs. Jackson


takes aim. BURST 3 rounds, Struck by 2, The Cholo goes down.

Opposite the house, another Cholo takes aim, BLAST wildly at


JACKSON who edges into the door for cover.

UPSTAIRS -

Jordan peeks out, sees his gunman down. He steps on the roof,
instantly take FIRE from the guy engaged with Jackson.

INSIDE - KITCHEN:

Jackson peeks out, sees his target focused elsewhere but has
no clear shot. He steps out in the open for a better shot.

Jackson FIRES heavy, the cholo redirects to Jackson.

Rounds PEPPER around Jackson who returns FIRE. One strikes


the cholos arm, whips him around. Another round opens the
Cholos back up, the round forces the weapon from his hand.

Jackson stays on his obscured target. Then falls to his


knees. Hes hit, a gut shot fills his hand with blood.

He crawls forward, switches from his M4 to a 9mm. Hears a


NOISE from above him, swings his weapon up. Its Jordan,
stunned & scarred on the roof. Deer in headlights for both.

Jackson raises his finger to his mouth.

JACKSON
(Silently)
Shhhhhhh!

Jordan nods compliantly as Jackson turns back to his belly,


continues his crawl to the downed Cholo hidden behind a
riddled, riding mower.

The Cholo STRUGGLES for breath as blood SPURTS from his mouth
& nose. Jackson grabs him, uses him for leverage to get on
top, places the 9mm under his chin, looks away. POP!

JACKSON (CONTD)
Fuck you.

The top of the cholos head covers the green grass.

Jordan just watches in terror.

JACKSON (CONTD)
How about a hand kid?
(Jordan is tuned out)
Hey, kid?

Jordan snaps out of it & acknowledges Jackson.

EXT. DRIVEWAY - SAME

Marco, behind a cruisers with two other cholos.

Across the yard, behind a tree at the end of the lot another
shooter waits for orders.

The last Cholo right next to the door.

MARCO (SPANISH)
Move.

One cholo with him moves towards the door.

INSIDE - LIVINGROOM:

The officer looks out the window & sees the cholo leave
cover.

He lifts his weapon & FIRES. BANG! BANG!. B-B-B-Bang. Empties


his full magazine hitting the cholo once in the arm.

BRAD
There you go. That felt good,
right?

The cop breathes like he ran a marathon.

OUTSIDE - FRONTYARD AND DRIVEWAY:

Instantly the cholo in the tree starts FIRING with an AK-47.

RATTA TAT TAT! RATTA TAT TAT TAT TAT at the cops position, it
obliterates the wall, the cop drops down.

INSIDE - LIVINGROOM:

Brad steps back, careful not to expose himself to Marco & the
others on the right.

POP, POP POP!

The rounds strike the tree within inches of the cholo sending
him down & back into cover.

EXT. FRONT DOOR -

The CHOLO shot in the arm & another kick the door OPEN.

INT. DOORWAY -

Miller stays right there & he UNLOADS his M4 in BURST into


the OPEN space. Both DROP hard in the doorway hard & messy.

LIVINGROOM -

Jeff & Brad continue making Their weapons TALK into Marco &
the others position.

The Cholo behind the tree moves backwards & away from the
tree to the far side of the house.

OUTSIDE - CAR -

Marco pops his head over the top of the car & has a clean
shot at the cop.

POP, POP, POP with an assault rifle.

INSIDE - LIVINGROOM -

He strikes Jeff in the face & hand. The bullets sheer off his
fingers & destroy his face as he falls back against the wall
covered in his own blood.

Brad swings his weapon over to Marco laying multiple rounds


into the car forcing Marco down & to move around the far side
of the car for better cover.

INSIDE - LIVINGROOM

Brad gets to the cop & pulls him away from the window behind
the bullet ridden couch.

OUTSIDE - BACKYARD -

Jordan crutches Jackson as they both make Their way into the
corn fields behind the house.

JORDAN
Comon.

Jordan STRUGGLES as Jackson can barely put weight on his


missing knee & GRUNTS with every step.

FRONTYARD - BESIDE THE CAR

Marco looks to the side of the house & sees Jordan & Jackson
just as they enter into the tall stalks of corn.

He pops up over the top of the car & fires three more rounds
into the livingroom before dropping & moving to the side of
the house through an OPEN gate.
100.

CORNFIELDS -

Jordan keeps pushing forward. Jackson loses blood fast &


makes things harder as he gets fainter.

The stalks RUSTLE, someone else in the fields gets Jordan's


attention as he sets Jackson down & listens.

More rustling over Jackson LABORED, PAINFUL BREATHING.

JORDAN
(Whispers)
Shhhh.

JACKSON
(Whispers)
You got to leave, kid. Go, run.

JORDAN
No, I got you.

JACKSON
Kid, run godammit. RUN!

JORDAN
Ill get help.

Jackson shakes his head.

Jordan looks around, takes off straight through the whipping


corn stalks leaving Jackson propped against the corn stalks &
loading a fresh magazine.

INSIDE - LIVINGROOM -

Brad moves to the door by Miller.

A large pool of blood under Miller. Brad checks his pulse.


Hes gone!

Brad lifts his weapon moving into the door way. He kicks both
men in the door to see if they are alive before he passes
over the top of them.

His weapon up, he starts closing the distance on Marcos


position.

He rounds the car in the driveway, But theres no one there.

CORNFIELDS - JACKSON -

Jackson has perched himself lower against the stalks & raises
his m4 to the approaching RUSTLING as it gets closer.

Closer, closer. ITS Scott.

SCOTT
Whoa! Whoa, whoa!

JACKSON
Oh fuck.

SCOTT
Wheres the kid?

JACKSON
He went that way.

SCOTT
You good?

JACKSON
No.

SCOTT
Alright, Ill be right back.

Scott's heads into the deep stalks.

ON JORDAN - IN THE FEILD:

At full speed he makes it through the tall stalks into an


opening in front of a large, dilapidated barn & makes it to a
Combine Tractor pulled in front.

BANG! - A bullet STRIKES the tractor next to his head that


makes him duck.

He waits a few seconds & looks between the tires & sees Marco
100 feet away & moving towards him.

Jordan runs for the barn, narrowly dodging three more ROUNDS
that strike the wood barn in front of him.

INT. BARN - CONTINUOUS

He slams the door shut behind him. A ROUND grazes the side of
his ribs. Enough to SPIN him to the GROUND.

On the ground, in the hay, he checks his wound, bloody but


not an end all shot. He STRUGGLES forward behind a stall.

INT. BARN - CONTINUOUS

He runs to the far end & hides in an empty horse stall beside
assorted un-repaired farm equipment.

Jordan leans over to look through a bullet to the silhouette


of Marco passes to the door.

The door opens, the sun spills inside across the dusty room.

Jordan peeks over the top.

MARCO
(Swings his gun right)
Hey Kid?... You in here?

No reply, so he FIRES a round into a random stall.

ON SCOTT - IN THE FEILD:

Looks up to see birds SCATTER under GUNFIRE.

ON MARCO - INSIDE:

His weapon leads him from one stall to another.

MARCO
Arent you fucking tired, yet? You
know how this has to go.

He swings into another stall, FIRES, nothing.

MARCO (CONTD)
Did you watch? Did you see me spill-

ON JORDAN - INSIDE:

MARCO (O.S.)
--Your parents out? You did
nothing, you let me kill me.

Does everything he can to stay low, quite, his back-pack in


front of himself.

ON MARCO - INSIDE:

Moving to another stall slowly, the door spills sunlight


again into the space.

Marco ducks behind a tractor on blocks.

I/E. ON SCOTT - ENTRYWAY TO BARN:

Scott steps into the doorway. His weapon trained up, eyes
squinted to adjust to the lack of light.

SCOTT
(Whispers)
Jordan? Are you in here?

ON MARCO - INSIDE:

Hes faced away from the door & looks at the slow shadow on
the ground of someone in the doorway.

Marco steadies himself as the shadow crosses over. He moves


his barrel with it.

ON SCOTT - INSIDE:

Scott moves to the right, his weapon oriented wrong.

ON JORDAN - INSIDE:

Jordan leans over & sees Marco move on Scott's Shadow.

ON MARCO - INSIDE:

Marco lifts his weapon & starts to rise up on target as Scott


turns to find hes fucked, Marco has him dead to rites.

JORDAN (O.S.)
Hey asshole!

Marco turns, stunned, he brings his rifle up.

JORDAN (CONTD)
Im done running you son of a
bitch.

BOOM! - Jordan blast off a round from Bills .38 revolver.

The bullet hits Marco in the side of the head. The round
splits him OPEN & sending him against the combine.

Scott rounds the corner first seeing the .38 Shake loose from
Jordans hands.

Scott kicks Marcos gun away. Blood pours from Marcos head.

SCOTT
Stay back!

Scott bends down to check his pulse. NOTHING.

Scott takes Jordans gun, Jordan falls into Scott, falls


apart.

UPSTAIRS - BATHROOM:

Brad throws furniture out of the stairway & climbs over the
top of the final pieces to get to his family.

He finds an OPEN door with a dresser in it. He fears the


worst as he climbs over it & looks into the bathroom seeing
Sam & Clark in the tub together. Sam holds a gun up to the
doorway.

EMPTY FEILD - HOURS LATER

Dozens of cop cars, officers. Its a fucking zoo as Scott


walks Jordan over to a waiting Helicopter.

Much of the town watches on the far side of police caution


tape with a few dozen reporters.

Miller & Jackson are being carted off on gurneys.

Jordan looks back to see Clark, Sam, Brad stand in front of


Their completely fucked house.

In the crowd, Laura has real concern on her face & watches
him go as he gives a half smile at her & she gives it back.

SUPER: 2 MONTHS LATER

INT. HISTORY CLASS - DAY

Clark & Laura sit in class together; A TEACHER 1 takes roll.

TEACHER 1

The door opens to a TEACHER 2 steps in, note in hand.
