Norfolk Island
Your Host Destination
Welcome to a world, where you can be as laid back (or busy) as you want to be. Where the only
fast food is pulled fresh from soil or sea. Where there are no traffic lights. Where time moves slowly.
An island of unspoilt natural beauty, where inhabitants tread lightly upon the earth. Meet a unique
people, descendant of the famous Bounty mutineers, who speak their own special language, and
will welcome you in their own unique way. Experience a time so relaxing, it will permeate every
fibre of your being.
Welcome to the World of Norfolk. Welcome back to earth.

Norfolk Island is a bountiful volcanic outcrop 8km long and 5km wide, with a total area of 3855ha
and permanent population of around 1800 people. It is located just over two hours flying time
from Brisbane and Sydney and is classified as an External Australian Territory with international
visitation requirements. English is spoken, Australian currency used and a passport or Australian
Document of Identity is required for entry.

Visit www.theworldofnorfolk.com.au for more information.

Pitcairn. He has lived on Norfolk Island most of his life and feels
privileged to have been a part of a unique community from
1955 when daily life was very different to today.
Arthur will share his passion with you, painting a historic montage of the four settlements of
Norfolk with references to the medical practices of the individual eras. Borrowing from the
diaries of George Hamilton - Surgeon aboard HMS Pandora, covering some of the harsh

YOU” The Importance of looking after yourself so that you HOURS
can care for others.
BARBARA SHELLEY M.A.
Compassion fatigue. Burnout. Words that strike dread in the heart of any
professional. Nurses are no exception. It is when we start to lose our sense of self
to the people we are helping. When we begin to give out more compassion/
caring then we are receiving, we are in danger of physical, emotional and
spiritual exhaustion.

Extreme levels of commitment are required by health care professions. No one is

immune. Focusing on others care and health, at our own expense in a
consistent manner and failing to attend to our own needs can lead to burnout,
ineffective work performance and even result in legal or ethical liabilities. Join
Barbara for more Insight.
