that the student knows that the Dewey system is not
the only system in use.

This lesson explains the ten main classes of the
Dewey Decimal Classification System, and attempts
to show the student that one class progresses
logically from the first group to the last one.
Practice is given in the use of non-fiction books, and
in using books of biography.
FOLLOW UP ACTIVITIES
Have student look for books in each class, and
write down the call number, author, and title for a
book in each of the large classes.
Have student draw a diagram of the library,
locating the non-fiction books, and marking them on
the diagranv
Make a list of five bookscall number and title,
and have student find them on the shelves.
