Project Deliverables:
From AC voltage, this will be converted into DC voltage by undergoing to the process of
rectification. The voltage was then used into a constant current circuitry where it produces
constant currents. These currents will now power the light sources of the monitoring system.
The converted DC voltage will undergo to a step down converter to be used by the
microcontroller.
In this monitoring system different parameters will be measured. These includes light
level, water level, pH level and temperature. It is essential for aquaponics system to maintain its
temperature depending on the fish inside the tank. The temperature sensor will read the
voltage across its diode and is read as the temperature. As the voltage increases in the diode
the temperature also increases. The gathered data will not be analyzed in the microcontroller.
The current that will pass through the light sensor will determine its light level. The gathered
data will be sent to the microcontroller to get the analyzed data that will be shown in the
display. The water level sensor will emit a high-frequency pulse, usually ranging from 20 kHz to
200 kHz, and then listens for the echo. The pulse is then transmitted into a cone. The pulse
impacts the level surface and is reflected back to the sensor now acting as a receiver, and then
to the transmitter for signal processing. The transmitter is designed to listen to the highest
amplitude return pulse and mask out all other ultrasonic in the vessel. The gathered water level
will be sent to the microcontroller for it to process and to computer for the desired parameter.
The pH level sensor will work to measure the acidity of the water. The ideal pH level of an
aquaponic system is between the value of 6 to 9. This will tell if the water is already needed for
a maintenance or not. After the gathered data are analyzed by the microcontroller, the analyzed
data are now showed in the display where we can see different measurements of the needed
parameters. This will also tell if the system is in need of maintenance for the proper growth of
the fishes and plants.
