10,000 Actions Fund

Last week, we submitted our application for the
10,000 actions fund. We are hoping to get
funding to buy reusable drinks containers (coffee
cups and water/juice bottles) for our team in an
effort to eliminate waste generated by single-use,
disposable paper cups and plastic bottles. We
will keep you updated on the progress of the
application.

Travel tips: 147 Bus, Electric Car and Bike

If you are travelling around campus or around
Manchester during the work day, there are a
number of eco-friendly options at your disposal.

The 147 bus travels between North and South

Campus and is FREE for staff (with ID).
Especially useful on a rainy day! Our nearest
stop is on Sackville Street, just before the main
entrance to the Sackville Street Building and you
can track it here.

2
Alternatively, the University offers an electric pool
car, if you are travelling beyond the campus on
business. It is 100% electric, meaning no exhaust
tailpipe emissions. You can book it here.

Finally, our team has access to a bicycle, which

anyone in the team can borrow at any time. Just
ask myself or Daniele for more information. Bike
users are also invited to join UMBUG, the
Universitys Bike User Group. Check it out.

Breakthrough! Recycled printing paper now available

Daniele, our resident Green Impact champion, has reported on a very productive meeting with Sackville
Street Stores, they have agreed to stock recycled printing paper. Non-recycled printing paper is, however,
still available, so we ask that you request the recycled option if you visit Stores. They have assured us that
the quality and finish is identical.

Avoid single-use cups/bottles.

As part of our effort to reduce waste of paper and plastic, we would ask that you try your best to use
reusable containers for drinks. There are reusable cups and glasses stocked in the kitchen cupboard for
guests and, until we hear from the 10,000 Actions Fund, Hug Mugs and Eco Water Bottles are available
from most Food on Campus outlets. You can save 20p on each cup of tea/coffee/soup with a Hug Mug.
