Volunteer Opportunities 09-07
Volunteer Opportunities 09-07
Tuesday Night Child Care: To ensure that our residents attain self-sufficiency, all parents living
in our Transitional Living and Learning Center (TLLC) and Transitional Housing must attend
life skills classes. Classes include money management, parenting, conflict resolution, and job
readiness. Volunteers help provide child care for 0-2 year olds, 3-4 year olds, or the 5-12 year
olds while parents are in class. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who have childcare
experience or would like to gain this experience. An opportunity for individuals, churches,
or groups. Tuesday evenings from 6:15pm-7:30pm. 10-15 volunteers needed.
Resident Meeting Child Care: The fourth Thursday of each month, with the exception of holidays, residents of our
Transitional Living and Learning Center attend Resident Council Meetings. At these meetings, they learn about upcoming
events and any updates at the TLLC. Help enable attendance for our residents by helping with Child Care for 0-12 year olds
during the courses. An opportunity for individuals, churches, or groups. Third Thursday each month (with the exception
of holidays), from 6:15pm-7:30pm. 3-7 volunteers needed.
Host a Teen Workshop: The TLLC is filled with enthusiastic teens who are looking for activities to fill their free time. Do
you have passion and knowledge in a certain subject or hobby that youd like to share with our teens? We are looking for
volunteers that would like to host their own workshop with our high school youth. Ideas include but are not limited to
workshops in: literature, music, art, and cooking. If you would like to offer workshops or classes in any area of your
expertise, our teens would love to have you! An opportunity for adults only. Individuals, churches, and groups
welcomed. Times and days may vary depending on schedule. Please contact Volunteer Services for more information.
Family Volunteer Days: Cleaning, painting, and gardening are vital to ensuring a safe, beautiful home for our residents.
Families can volunteer at SAMMinistries by helping with day-to-day tasks at the Transitional Living and Learning Center
(TLLC). Projects may include: deep cleaning kitchen, cleaning and sanitizing toys in child care rooms, outdoor gardening,
car wash for SAMMinistries vehicles, and immediate need projects. An opportunity for families with children under 16.
Saturdays from 9:00am-11:00am. Please check with Volunteer Services for specific dates.
Teen Mentors: Mentoring guarantees a young person that he or she is cared for. It shows
the youth that they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges. In order to be a
successful mentor, volunteers should have a sincere desire to be involved with a young
person, be an active listener, and be flexible and open to finding new ways of connecting
with teens. We are looking for volunteers for group/one-on-one mentoring. This volunteer
opportunity requires a minimum of a 6 month commitment, but is extremely rewarding.
An opportunity for adult individuals. Times and days may vary depending on schedule.
Please contact Volunteer Services for more information
Teen Room: The teens at SAMMinistries always look forward to a fun escape from their day-to-day responsibilities. Come
spend time with them by volunteering to open the Teen Room at our Transitional Living and Learning Center. Volunteers
can play video games, watch movies, or simply hang out and share laughs during Teen Room. Bringing a snack to share
with the teens will ensure smiles all around! An opportunity for churches or groups only. Times and days may vary
depending on schedule. Please contact Volunteer Services for more information. 4-7 volunteers needed.

Service Projects: Volunteer teams are needed to help keep our facilities clean and functional. Projects in the past have
included: painting, mulching, gardening, deep cleaning our large kitchen, and organizing the childrens library. Furniture
assembly and sorting and keeping inventory of items is also a great need of ours. An opportunity for churches or groups
only. Availability varies. Please contact Volunteer Services for more information. Minimum of 10 volunteers needed.
Host a Party: Our parents are busy going to work and school to support their families. They welcome any opportunity to
spend time together as a family. Consider hosting a family enrichment event for the families living at TLLC. Ideas include:
movie night, barbeque, family game night, and water fun day. Hosts are asked to provide ALL necessary items.
An opportunity for groups and churches. Availability varies. Please contact Volunteer Services for more information.
Spiritual Services: The residents of TLLC are hungry for the Word of God. Can you help feed their spirit? Maybe your
group has a calling to host a Bible study with the adults and children of TLLC. Does someone in your group have a passion
for music ministry and want to share that with our residents? We are looking for interested church groups to host Spiritual
Services at TLLC. We are open to your suggestions as to how best to bring the Word of God into the everyday lives of
TLLC residents. An opportunity for groups and churches. Availability varies. Please contact Volunteer Services for
more information.
Special Events: Throughout the year, SAMMinistries hosts various special events such as
