The Tragedy of Julius Caesar (Analysis)

The version Ive watched is the year 1970 which directed by Stuart Burge and I
think his film goal is to show how marvelous is William Shakespeare masterpiece
because the story is really related on us what causes could happened to a envied
person not just about the humanity but the real story of Julius Caesar. Its my first
time to know that Julius Caesar was killed by one of his senators and it shook me
that they assassinated him. We all know that when you killed a person whom you
envied with will experience karma which was happened to Brutus and Cassius they
both died.

The mise en scene; the costumes of the actors are great because their definitely
related from Roman Era which is theres a coronet on the head where Julius Caesar
wears and etc. The lighting is good too but the scene where Cassius introduces the
new followers of Brutus who also joins for plan on killing Julius Caesar, it was
darker and I suggest that put on a little bit light on it. The props is ingenious
because the scene where Cassius is angry to Julius Caesar he pulled over the
flower necklace onto Julius Caesars statue symbolizes that he was angry to him,
and for me the flower necklace means love and it means love for Julius Caesar and
for Cassius he shouldnt give love. The most things Ive noticed is the camerawork
was uncreative, because the camera is just moving it to the left then let the actor
speak. I suggest the use some close up shot or something like that. I know the year
1970 didnt know about different camera shots but if I were the cameraman I
would invent some ideas to make cameraworks more ingenious and thatll the
audience appreciate it and keep asking how to do that? Also the sound, I heard
only the main and the ending themes that is quite antique and suitable for the story
but when Julius Caesar died theres no background music like Mozarts Requiem
or etc. and I didnt felt any emotions on the movie which that made me bored. I
searched the main OST of the movie which was composed by Michael J. Lewis
and I just found the main and ending theme. I suggest that you use some kind of
Celtic Music.
