Sargent & Lundy and Contech Bridge Solutions provided

a series of Continental pipe support bridges for the
Dresden nuclear facility. The 5,000 linear feet of supply
piping for the cooling towers is 72 in diameter, while the
3,000 feet of return piping is 60 in diameter.

As the water circulates through the cooling towers and

throughout the system, temperature extremes cause the
pipes to expand and contract. Engineers designed an
effective roller support system to accommodate the pipes
expansion and contraction. The project also incorporated
adjoining pedestrian bridges for worker access and utility
cable trays.

The 90 long clear span prefabricated pipe support

structures were designed and built in Alexandria,
Minnesota. They were delivered to the site in one piece,
ready for installation.
