Write a letter which responds to the following prompts.

1. What kind of reader are you? Do you love it? Do you consider it a
difficult chore? Do you have another way that you feel about it?
If you enjoy reading, explain why you do. If you dislike reading,
explain why it is hard for you. Which books have your read in the
last two years that you enjoyed? What other types of reading do
you like to do (poetry, drama, comics, blogs, magazines, etc)?

2. What kind of writer are you? Do you love it? Do you consider it a
difficult chore? Do you have another way that you feel about it?
Explain your answer. Try to give examples of writing that you
have completed at school that support what you are saying.
What types of writing do you most enjoy (poetry, creative writing,
factual writing like essays, persuasive writing, etc.)

3. What do you wish I knew about you? What do you want from me
as your English teacher? What areas would you identify in your
reading, writing and communicating that need to be adjusted or
improved? Explain your answer with examples from your life
outside of school or from your last English class. Have you ever
taken advantage of extra English help at lunch? Have you
considered it? How could my time working with you be best
used?
