Tool to automate Functional Testing

Enables functional users to execute tests with greater

accuracy and speed

Replicate actions of a single user executing a test case using

the Record and Playback approach

Record manual test procedures, save them in the framework

and reuse them again later

Installation Prerequisites
PeopleTools version
PTF needs PeopleTools 8.51.02 or above This is mandatory- believe me; we learnt it the
hard way. A lot of bugs reported in 8.51 with respect to PTF have been resolved in patch
8.51.02.
Microsoft .NET Framework
The installation of the test framework also needs Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 or above.
SSL Encryption
This was never mentioned in the installation guide as required or mandatory. SSL needs
to be implemented in order for the PTF client to connect to IB.
Integration Broker
You need to have Integration Broker configured for PTF to work. It uses IB to record test
cases as well as store the test assets into the PeopleSoft database.

They can be migrated from one database to another same

way as we do for projects through App Designer

Create a project in App Designer, include test scripts and test

cases and use COPY PROJECT to migrate to other
environments

metadata

They incorporate references to PeopleTools metadata like

records, fields , components, pages etc.

PTF can automate the process of comparing the test
