Describe the crime:

Eric David Harris and Dylan Bennet Klebold were two American mass murderers who killed 13
people and wounded 24 others armed with firearms and knives on April 20, 1999, at Columbine
High School. Harris and Klebold committed suicide in the library, where they had killed 10 of
their victims.
Brown, who was a friend of Eric, scolded him for skipping the morning class, because
Harris was always serious about schoolwork and being on time. Harris reportedly said,
"It doesn't matter anymore" and also said, "Brooks, I like you now. Get out of here. Go
home."[26] Brown quickly left the school grounds. After that, he heard the first gunshots
after he had walked some distance away from the school, and he informed the police via
a neighbor's cell phone.
By that time, Dylan Klebold had already arrived at the school in a separate car, and the
two boys left two gym bags, each containing a 20-pound propane bomb, inside the
school cafeteria. When these devices failed to detonate, Harris and Klebold launched a
shooting attack against their classmates. Harris was responsible for eight of the thirteen
confirmed deaths, while Klebold was responsible for the remaining five. There were 24
wounded, most in critical condition.

Describe waht pushed criminals to do it

Both of the shooters were classified as gifted children who had allegedly been victims of
bullying for four years. According to Brooks Brown, Klebold and Harris were the most
ostracized students in the entire school, and even many of those close to them regarded the
two as "the losers of the losers". On another occasion just weeks before the massacre, both
Harris and Klebold had been confronted by a group of youths at the school, all members of
the football team, who had sprayed them with ketchup and mustard while referring to the pair
as "faggots" and "queers".
IDENTIFY WHY SECURITY FAILED TO PREVENT THE CRIME

Eric and Dylan were students from that college. So, they could enter there successfully. They
had gotten into the school with firearms. The security staff at Columbine didnt observe the
bombs being placed in the cafeteria, since a custodian was replacing the school security
video tape as it happened. The criminals were in the library when the police arrived.

THINK ABOUT SOLUTIONS TO AVOID THE SAME TYPE OF CRIME IN THE FUTURE

Id assign specialists to help the students. Theyll be able to study the students behavior. I should
probably put more guards at college. Maybe I should propose some rules.
