1.

1 Entitlement to wear uniform


Uniform may only be worn by members who holding basic first aid certificate (BFA).

1.2 Manner of wearing


All uniform must be worn correctly, smartly, with pride and in accordance with these FULL UNIFORM RULES &
REGULATIONS.

1.3 Personal appearance


1. The face is to be clean, moustache or beard is to be trimmed and tidy.
2. Hair is to be clean, trimmed and tidy and is not fall over the line of the top of the collar.
3. Hands must be clean, with short clean fingernails and without nail vanish of any kind.

AMBULANCE CADET UNIFORM

Headgear
1. Black forage cap as shown in Figure 1 with two small silver buttons in front at the mid-line of the upturn.

2. Cadet cap badge on the left, 25mm (1 inch) down from the top and 75mm (3 inch) from the side.

3. When uniform is worn out of doors, on duties, on public transport and other occasions, the appropriate
head-dress is to be worn. At indoor events the senior officer present will indicate whether or not head-dress
to be worn.

Shirt
1. White tucked in shirt as shown in Figure 2

2. Ordinary shirt collar of 64mm (2 inches)


3. Short sleeves- length 64mm (2 inches) from the elbow.
4. White shoulder straps stitched to the shirt with small black SJAM buttons.
5. Four big black SJAM buttons in front. The button should be placed between 65 to 100mm (2.5 to 4 inches)
apart and proportionate to the body. The second button should be in line with the small buttons at the
pockets.
6. The shoulder flash is to be stitched on the sleeve in front of the sleeve line. The top of the shoulder flash is
to touch the seam of the shoulder.
7. Two breast patch pockets as shown in Figure 3 with a flap fastened with a small black SJAM button and
two press studs.

8. Cadet Pocket Badge to be worn in the centre of the left pocket.


9. *White singlet should be worn with the uniform.
10. Name tags should be worn in line with the top of the right pocket. The name tag should contain only one
word with a maximum of nine letters without any logo or badge or border around it.
Name tag & ID card to be worn on the right

Trousers
1. Black trousers with no turn-up as shown in Figure 4. Front zip, plain drop and no bell bottom.

2. The circumference of the bottom to be not more than 480 mm (19 inches).
3. There should be seven loops for the belt.
4. Length of the trousers to be 25mm (1 inch) above the ground with shoes on.
5. Two cut-in pockets on the sides and two back pockets with a flap fastened with a small black shirt button.

Belt
Black nylon belt 30mm (1.2 inches) wide with a silver buckle embossed with a badge similar to the collar badge
with the words St. John Ambulance Malaysia.

Socks & Shoes


Plain black socks, black shoes with black laces and must always clean and well polished.

Lanyard
Only N.C.O. will wear the black lanyard.

Order of Dress and Details


Grand priors badge
The grand prior badge will be worn midway between the shoulder and the elbow on the left arm. When the service
chevron is also worn, grand priors badge will be worn above the service chevron.

Rank chevron
The rank chevron should be worn midway between the shoulder and the elbow of the right arm.

Cadet leader strip


The cadet leaders strips are worn on both shoulders, directly at the bottom of the shoulder flashes.

Ketua Kadet

Secretarys badge
The secretarys badge should be worn midway between the shoulder and the elbow of the right arm. When rank
chevrons are also worn, the secretarys badge should be above the rank chevron.

Storekeepers badge
The storekeepers badge should be worn midway between the shoulder and the elbow of the right arm. When rank
chevrons are also worn, the storekeepers badge should be above the rank chevron.

Proficiency badges
The proficiency badges are worn in three rows on the left arm, 25mm (1 inch) below the name of the shoulder flash.
Cadets who have been promoted to adult divisions can continue to wear the proficiency badge until the age
of 21 or the reward of the grand priors badge whichever is early. The proficiency badge must not be worn
after the award of grand priors badge.

Meritorious service certificate bar


Meritorious service certificate is worn 25mm (1 inch) above the right pocket or 13mm ( inch) above the name tag
or 13mm ( inch) above the half wing.

Special service shield


The special service shield is worn above the right pocket. The bottom of the badge should be 13mm ( inch) above
the name tag.
100 hours green 200 hours blue
500 hours purple 750 hours silver
1000 hours gold

Service stripes and stars


1st year: One black-and-white stripe worn horizontally with point to front 38mm inches from the bottom of left
sleeve.

2nd year: Two black-and-white stripe, the second above and touching the first.

3rd year: One service star, with center of star 38mm (1 inches) from the bottom of left sleeve.

4th year: One service star and one black-and-white stripe directly above the service star.

5th year: Two service star, one directly above the other.

6th year: Two service star and one black-and-white strip directly above the service star.

7th year: Three service star.
