STRATEGIES FOR REDUCING WASTE AT SCHOOL

There has recently been growing concern about strategies for reducing waste that
schools should adopt. On account of environmental movements, the government
started addressing the problem: the waste of electricity and school supplies.
Although the government's attitude left much to be desired, it has now urged
schools to raise awareness among children of the need to recycle and save energy,
which is, indeed, the main obstacle to the protection of the environment in the
classroom.

Foremost, it is worth asking how teachers and educators should explain children
the importance of recycling and energy saving: teachers should be able to transfer
these aspects to their daily lives in order that children could make certain actions
part of their life.

Involving teachers and children in recycling schemes and other activities to improve
the environment can be a lot of fun. Creating posters and bright labels for the bins,
holding class discussions to allow children to share their own opinion and showing
that if it was not for throwing paper into recycling bins, forests would disappear. This
undoubtedly provides a path to a greener future in the school.

On the other hand, in the case of saving energy, technology deployment today has
turned out to be a problem, because many computers are left on for hours without
being used. However, in addition to technology, there are some long-standing
problems such as water and electricity waste (lights) or the way children go to
school. To avoid that, you can check, for instance, that none of your taps around
the school are dripping, catch a bus to school if you can and remember to turn the
lights off when you leave a classroom.

In conclusion, reducing waste in school is an individual commitment that should be

reflected into a benefit for everyone. If we work hard to raise children, who are the
future of our society, we will eradicate unfortunate situations that currently happen.
It is up to you!
