Differential Microphone Preamplifiers with

Internal Bias and Complete Shutdown
General Description Features

MAX4060/MAX4061/MAX4062
The MAX4060/MAX4061/MAX4062 are differential-input o 2.4V to 5.5V Single-Supply Operation
microphone preamplifiers optimized for notebook and o Adjustable Gain or Fixed-Gain Options
PDA audio systems. These devices feature adjustable
o High PSRR (86dB at 1kHz)
gain with excellent power-supply rejection and com-
mon-mode rejection ratios, making them ideal for low- o High CMRR (70dB at 1kHz)
noise applications in portable audio systems. o Low Input-Referred Noise
The MAX4060/MAX4062 are capable of switching their o Integrated Microphone Bias
output between the differential input and a single- o 750A Supply Current
ended auxiliary microphone amplifier input. In addition, o 0.3A Shutdown Current
the MAX4060/MAX4062 have a low-noise microphone

bias generator. The differential gain of the
MAX4061/MAX4062 is set with a single resistor. The o Rail-to-Rail Outputs
MAX4060 has a fixed gain of 10V/V and is PC99/2001 o THD+N: 0.04% at 1kHz
compliant. The MAX4061 includes a complete shut- o Available in Space-Saving Packages
down mode. In shutdown, the supply current is 8-Pin TDFN (MAX4060/MAX4061)
reduced to 0.3A and the current to the microphone
bias is cut off for ultimate power savings. 8-Pin MAX (MAX4060/MAX4061)
10-Pin MAX (MAX4062)
The MAX4060 operates from a 4.5V to 5.5V single sup-
ply and the MAX4061/MAX4062 operate from 2.4V to
5.5V. All devices are specified over the extended oper-
ating temperature range, -40C to +85C. The
MAX4060/MAX4061 are available in tiny 8-pin TDFN Typical Operating Circuit
(3mm x 3mm x 0.8mm) and 8-pin MAX packages.
The MAX4062 is available in a 10-pin MAX package.

MAX4061/MAX4062 Applications Information

The MAX4062 has a lower bias voltage and low-imped-
ance outputs (optimum electret bias resistor can then Shutdown Mode
