Record Home Run Total Not Enough for Osprey

Osprey fall short despite franchise-record seven homers
HELENA, MONT. - The Missoula Osprey (16-17, 35-36) hammered a franchise-record seven home runs on
Monday night, but fell to the Brewers (12-21, 27-44) by a final score of 20-13 at Kindrick Legion Field in
Helena.

In one of the most bizarre games of the season, the Osprey and Brewers combined for 33 runs on 44 base
hits, including 17 extra-base hits and 10 total home runs. The Osprey never trailed by less than four runs at
any point, despite the tsunami of offensive statistics.

Osprey starting pitcher Franklyn Soriano lasted only two-thirds of an inning before being removed. The
lefty surrendered five runs (all earned) on five base hits and one walk, while striking out one. Despite
Missoulas late rally, Soriano was saddled with his fifth loss of the season. Coupled with a trio of relievers,
the Osprey pitching staff struggled to contain Helenas lineup.

After five innings, the Brewers held a 13-1 lead over the Osprey with the only resistance from Missoula
coming on a second-inning solo home run by Juan Araujo. In the sixth, Brandon Leyton added an RBI
single to cut the deficit to 12 runs before Helena pushed back for three runs in the bottom half on Jay
Felicianos second home run of the game, accounting for his seventh, eighth, and ninth RBIs of the game.
With his nine runs batted in, Feliciano set a new opponent record against the Osprey.

The seventh inning opened a cascade of Osprey home runs that added a bit of intrigue to the game,
despite Helenas overwhelming offensive output. William Gorman hammered his third home run of the
season in the top of the seventh before Francis Martinez and Ernie De La Trinidad each added two-run
homers in the top of the eighth to cut the deficit to 20-7 entering the top of the ninth.

In the ninth, Missoula received a 490-foot, two-run homer from Araujohis second of the gameand a
three-run shot from Eddie Hernandez in his Osprey debut. De La Trinidad then rounded the score to its final
margin of 20-13 with a solo homer immediately following Hernandezs blast, the seventh Osprey homer of
the evening, breaking the previous franchise record of six. The set of back-to-back home runs by
Hernandez and De La Trinidad were the first of the year for Missoula.
In the losing effort, the Osprey received four-hit, two-home run games from both Araujo and De La
Trinidad. Missoula racked up 18 hits, compared to Helenas 26. The Brewers were paced by Feliciano, who
went 5-for-6 with two homers and nine RBIs. Three Brewers players notched four hits or more.

The Osprey return to action on Tuesday night in Helena, as they close their brief two-game set with the
Brewers at Kindrick Legion Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with coverage beginning on 102.9
ESPN Missoula at 6:45 p.m.
