Project
Background
CREATE YOU(TH) SIDE!
IN SOLIDARITY FOR INCLUSION,
DIVERSITY AND EQUALITY

PROJECT We believe in a holistic and inclusive youth work approach which is

VALUES responsive to the needs of all young people. We trust that youth work is about
AND BELIEVES enabling younger generation to develop their voices and influences in today's
society. We believe in the power of human rights education. With populist and
nationalist forces making significant gains in democratic states in recent years
we feel that now, more than ever before, we need to work on developing
human rights culture.
As youth work practitioners we have a responsibility to work towards building
more peaceful word. Therefore all youth work practices should aim to be as
inclusive as possible, supporting diversity and equal access of opportunities.

THE CIRCLE OF The circle of experimental learning 'experiencing, reflecting, generalising and
EXPERIMENTAL applying' will be completed by participating organisations throughout this
LEARNING project.

location, Accommodation,
and Venue
CREATE YOU(TH) SIDE!
IN SOLIDARITY FOR INCLUSION,
DIVERSITY AND EQUALITY

Our training course will take place in Glencree Peace and Reconciliation Centre
Co. Wicklow about 30 km from Dublin city. It's not-for profit, historical centre
used for peace building activities.

Bedrooms will be arranged according to gender (male/female). If gender division is

an issue for you, please don't hesitate to send us an e-mail and express your
preference. Most of the bedrooms are 4 people per room, but we also have 2
bedrooms with 7 people staying. All bedrooms have their own showers and even 7
bed rooms are big, so you feel comfortable (we had few groups staying in the big
bedrooms before and had no issues so far).

Glencree is located in the National Park area Wicklow mountains, so we suggest

you will bring comfortable shoes if interested to do hiking during your free time.
Also, please note that the closest shop is 10 km. away therefore please bring all
that you need for your stay.

Coffee breaks will be self organised, as breakfast, lunch and dinner provided by
staff. Accommodation, food and training materials will be covered 100%. We will
have internet available at the venue, but it is quite slow. Also, most networks have
no phone reception as we are in the mountains.
TRAVEL INSURANCE We strongly advice to get a travel insurance as this project will not cover any
insurance claims.

Thus, selected participants are advised to get EUROPEAN MEDICAL CARDS. This card will cover your visit
to local GP in case of the emergency.

WHAT TO BRING?
Please bring your own towels as venue doesn't provide it. Also enough clothing as there are no washing
machines available. Please bring shower gel, shampoos and hair dryers...basically all you need to stay clean
and fresh for the week!

Irish weather is one of the most popular conversation topics that we have. Please check it before arrival, as it
keeps changing every day. One thing for sure, it will be raining during some time of your stay in Glencree! If
you are coming from the south of Europe, it will be quite cold for you so make sure to bring a jumper or two.

During our training course we will have an Intercultural Night. We invite all participants to prepare 10 min.
presentations in your national groups. Short videos or/and music is welcomed. You can also bring some food
or drink to share with others but it is not obligatory. Please note that we are asking for minimum alcohol
consumption during this training course.

Please bring your baby picture from your childhood (in a digital format) for one of the evening activities.
Please do not show it to others when you arrive and we will collect it when the time is right. That all you need
to know about it for now

Electric plugs/ adaptors

Ireland has different electric plugs (same as UK) so please make sure you bring an adaptor in order to be
able to charge your phones, laptops ect. You can also buy it in Dublin airport but it is quite expensive (around
10-15 euros). We also kindly ask you to bring laptops, photo cameras ect. if you have it as some activities
will require to use on-line tools.
Money and final
notes for

countries involved in this project (beer in a bar costs about 5-6 euros and 2-3
euros in a shop; cigarettes about 11 euros etc.soft drinks about 2.5 euros at the
bar and about 1-1.80 euro in the shop). But as your food, accommodation,
training venue and materials are fully covered by this project and the closes shop

with group leaders-youth workers. Young person selected should be coming from socially, geographically or
economically disadvantage background.

is based on their true interests and needs. As noted before the main theme for the International Youth
Exchange is 'In Solidarity for Inclusion, Diversity and Equality' therefore it is quite open for discussions. It is an
experimental way of working for us too, but we have no doubt it will be truly youth empowering week!

1 youth worker (same person that attended TC and APV)
1 young person (same young person that attended APV)
3 new young people (strictly +18 and under 25)

As project program and all logistics will be planned during an APV in Georgia we kindly invite all partner
organisation to have groups of their young people selected by the end of October. We would expect that youth
