Installed on: Single Engine Aircraft

Reason: A governor failure or control system failure may produce a non responsive power lever
condition. In many cases the failure will reduce the fuel flow to the minimum flow condition thus the
engine will be running at a gas generator speed slightly below that of idle speed.

Operation: In normal mode the lever is to be stowed in the off position to prevent interference with
the fuel schedule as developed by the fuel control unit system.

Should the need arise to use the over-ride it must be operated with care as it is very sensitive due to
the direct action of the control on the fuel metering valve. In some cases the control directly moves
the metering system valve in others it will operate through springs and use internal control pressures
supplied by the fuel pressures.

The example used is for the PT6a- 67 series see next pages for descriptive notes.

Cautions must be followed regarding Acceleration high ITT Temperatures Possible Ng

Overspeeding, Possible Np Overspeeding, and Overtorquing.

Under direct control using the Manual Override it is possible to open the fuel metering valve fully!!
Something that may not happen under normal operation with the Power Lever. The Power Lever
controls the speed of the Gas Generator (Ng) by changing the speeder spring pressure on the FCU
Constant Speed Governor. The Manual Override changes the fuel flow more directly by operating
only the metering valve.
