In a step taken to attract
more passengers, Air India
will now reserve six seats
for women passengers in its
economy class. The nation-
al carrier will begin reserv-
ing these seats from
January 18.
Just a few days after the
national carrier was in
news due to alleged false re-
ports on its On Time Perfo-
rmance (OTP), it has come
up with a way to leave a bet-
ter impression on its pas-
sengers.
The decision of having
reserved seats for women
was taken by the chairman
and managing director in
Delhi on Thursday.
According to this deci-
sion, the third row of the
economy class, i.e. six seats
of the entire row, will be
reserved for women passen-
gers only. Senior officials
from the airline said that
the circular stating the
same decision will be made
and issued on Saturday.
Dhananjay Kumar, spoke-
sperson of the airline, said,
Air India aims to make all
our passengers feel at home
and reserving these seats is
a way to express our care
and respect for women.
The government-run Air
India was recently ranked
as the third-worst airline
in the world in terms of one
time performance after
Israeli carrier El Al and
Iceland-based Icelandair.
This was announced as part
of the 8th Annual Airline

receipts for `57.85 crore in the
name of Musaddilal Gems and
Jewellers and `40 crore in the
name of Vaishnavi Bullion,

tomers within three hours

announced. He said that Neel

CBI registers case
for `15 cr fraud
New Delhi: CBI has regis-
tered a case against a pri-
vate firm for allegedly cheat-
ing Canara Bank to the tune
of `15 crore by forging acco-
unts and loan. The bank has
alleged that Shree Gopala
Iron maintained its accounts
with it but fraudulently dis-
posed off stocks hypothe-
cated to it, the agency said.
The bank has claimed that it
was exposed to an alleged
financial loss to the tune of
`15 crore and interest. It also
said the case has been treat-
ed as loss on September 29,
2011. Based on the com-
plaint, CBI has registered a
case of criminal conspiracy,

vate sector lender ING Vysya
Bank on Thursday settled a
case relating to alleged vio-
lation of insider trading
norms with Sebi after paying
a little over `2 lakh as settle-

allegedly violated the norm.
It could not be immediately
ascertained whether he is
still working with the bank.
The Sebi conducted a probe
in respect of buying, selling
and dealing in the shares of

RE-AUDIT 3 DRL
PLANTS
New Delhi: US Food and
Drug Administration
(USFDA) will re-audit three
manufacturing facilities of Dr
Reddy's Laboratories in the
current quarter. The USFDA
had issued a warning letter
to the drug major on
November 5, 2015 on three
of its plants at Srikakulam,
Miryalaguda and Duvvada
after finding several viola-
tions with regard to current
good manufac-
turing practices
(CGMP). USFDA
had inspected the
plants in
November 2014,
January and
February 2015,
respectively. Re-
audit has been
scheduled for first quarter of
2017, the Hyderabad-based
company said in a presenta-
tion on its website. All the
commitments as part of the
warning letter response have
been completed, it added.
The company said it first
submitted response regard-
ing the warning letter to the
USFDA in December 2015
and gave final status update
on the matter in August

Can elections be conducted for the Member Associations
before the due amendments are made to their
Constitutions / Bye-laws bringing them in line with the
judgment?
While there is no bar to the holding of elections [sub-
ject to orders of any court], if any election is held which is
inconsistent with the Committees report and the judg-
ment of the Supreme Court, then the same will be treated
as void and with no legal sanctity. This would also neces-
sarily imply that such an election is supervised by an elec-
tion officer as prescribed under the recommendations.
It would be prudent in the circumstances for such elec-
tions to be conducted under the guidance of the adminis-
trators to be appointed by the Honble Supreme Court.
In a State/Member Association, if an individual has occu-
pied the post of Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer,
Director or any other post that is not defined as an Office
Bearer in the Report, then will his tenure in those posts
be calculated towards the 9 year disqualification?
If the constitution/bye-laws of the state/member asso-
ciation has defined the post [assistant secretary, assistant
treasurer, director, etc.,] as an office bearer post, then the
tenure of an individual in any of those posts will be reck-
oned while determining whether the 9 year period has
been completed. For example, in an association where the
constitution refers to the assistant treasurer as an office
bearer, if a person has occupied that post for 3 years and
also been secretary for 6 years, he stands disqualified.
Will a member of the Governing Body, Managing
Committee or Working Committee of a State/Member
Association who has never been an office bearer also have
the 9 year disqualification period apply to him?
Such an individual is eligible to contest an office bearer
post, unless the constitution or bye-laws of the association
defines office bearers to include the governing body/
managing committee/ working committee members.
As per the first set of FAQs [6.9.2016], the Committee had
stated that the 9 year disqualification for Office Bearers
applied separately to offices in the State and offices in the
BCCI. Does this position continue after the Supreme
Courts order dated 2.1.2017 and 3.1.2017?
This position has been now altered. In view of the
order dated 2.1.2017 as amended by the order dated
3.1.2017, an individual is disqualified from being the office
bearer of the BCCI or the state/member association if
he/she has been an office bearer of the BCCI or the
state/member association for 9 years. For example, one
who has been the office bearer of a state association for 9
years is disqualified from returning to cricket administra-
tion, either at the BCCI or at any state association.
Can a disqualified Office Bearer act as the representa-
tive/nominee of a Member Association or the BCCI? Can
such an individual discharge any other role in or on behalf
of the Association or the BCCI?
In keeping with the spirit of the honble Supreme
Courts judgment, a disqualified office bearer is no longer
to be associated with cricket administration. He / she is
