Q-1 The famous rabbit problem

Suppose a newly-born pair of rabbits, one male, one female, are put in a field. Newborn rabbits
take one month to mature and so they can mate only after one month. Also a female rabbit after
mating, remains pregnant for one month, after which it can produce another pair of rabbits.
Suppose that our rabbits never die and that the female always produces one new pair (one male,
one female) every month from the second month on. How many pairs will there be after one
year?

Also, what is special about the number of pairs of rabbits after every month?

Answer: There will be 144 pairs after 1 year. The number of pairs after every month follow the
Fibonacci sequence i.e. 1,1,2,3,5,8 the 12th term of this sequence is 144.

Additional fact:
*This real life problem is what inspired the famous Mathematician to discover and work on the
Fibonacci sequence and many problems in nature are solved using this sequence.

Q-2
An assumption or series of steps which is seemingly correct but contains a flawed argument
is called a mathematical fallacy.
Mathematical fallacies are interesting to deal with, as they help one to think creatively.

Can you find the fallacy in this interesting proof? (:P)
