TWENTY-FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
How often do we hear it said, or even say it
ourselves, IT IS NOT FAIR! We often feel we
have been unjustly treated, or very
unfortunate, or just given a raw deal in some
situation. There may be an element of truth in
it, but when we examine our lives and count
our blessings in a deep way, we may not feel
so hard done by.

We sometimes judge others good fortune externally, not knowing the true facts.
We make a superficial judgement that leads to disaster, resentment or leaves us
very disgruntled. We may even blame God for our sad state!!

In case I lead us all into a state of depression, I want us to think about the many,
many blessings in our lives. This weekend we will thank God for the fruits of the
earth the HARVEST SEASON where we remember in gratitude those farmers,
producers and workers who gather in the produce of the fields in order that we
can have food on our tables. Here in London it is very easy to lose sight of the
concept of harvest.

At this time of harvest and in the Creation Season, we have been asked by Pope
Francis to resolve to care for all of Gods creation. Thanking God for the fruits of
the earth and the work of human hands as we do in our offertory prayer is so
important. We need to have GRATITUDE in our hearts and less of its not fair!

WELCOME: to all our young people starting out on their preparation for their First
Holy Communion and Confirmation. We pray for all the families and leaders involved.

OUR SYMPATHIES AND PRAYERS: for the families of Francesco, Anna Maria and
Eugene, whose funerals will take place this week - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

SCHOOL FORMS: I will be available to sign school forms on Monday, 25th September
6:00-7:00pm and Tuesday, 26th September 3:30-4:30pm in the Hume Hall.

in the Jubilee Hall at 7.30pm

in Hume Hall, followed by mass at 6pm.
THE CELEBRATION OF BAPTISM
If you would like to have your child baptised
on the 14th October or later, the next
session will be on Monday 9th and 23rd
Oct 17 at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall.

If you wish to enrol your child/children
for the 2017/2018 Programme in
preparation for:
1) Pre- Communion (age 6-7);
2) First Communion (age 8 and above);
3) Post Communion (children who
already had their First Communion):
please take a REGISTRATION FORM from
the BLACK FOLDER on the shelf at the
BACK of the CHURCH - fill it in; attach copies
of Birth and Baptism Certificates of the child
and return as soon as possible to the Parish
Office, 4 Vincent Road.
NOTE CHANGE IN THE PROGRAMME:
The Religious Instruction programme
for 2017-2018 will be held on
SUNDAYS 10am 10.55am.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR
ADULTS (RCIA):
If you are interested in preparing for your
First Communion, Confirmation or
exploring your faith, please complete an
application form available at the back of
the church and contact the Parish Office.
The programme will start on
7th OCTOBER 17 Jubilee Hall:
4.00-5:45pm - Followed by 6pm Mass.
YOUTH CONNECT
On the last Saturday of every month, there
will be a gathering for young people aged
13-18 y.o. Our first meeting will be next
Saturday, 30th September; we will begin
with 6pm mass, followed by film and pizza
at the Verbum Dei Centre, 4a Vincent Rd
(2 donation would be appreciated). Come
along for friendship, faith, food and fun!

DAY RETREAT FOR READERS AND
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Treasure in Clay Jars
All Readers and Eucharistic Ministers
(and anyone who is interested!) are
invited for a day-retreat on Saturday,
30th September 2017, from 10am to 4pm.
Please bring your own lunch coffee and
tea will be provided. Other Readers and
Eucharistic ministers from the deanery of
Haringey will be joining us.

INSIGHT (INTO LIFE AND LOVE)
Following the courses of Bible Timeline,
Mary and Epic: Church History, this course
offers an insight into fundamental truths of
Christian faith through prayer, study of
scripture passages, philosophical and
theological reflection and faith sharing.
Deepen your faith, and share it with others!
Join us either on Tuesdays (7.30-9.00pm)
or Wednesdays (10.00-11.30am).
Sessions will begin on 3rd/4th October
2017 in Jubilee Hall.

HEALTH, FIRE AND SAFETY TRAINING
Precision Safety Services are providing
fire/health & safety training for parishes in
the Haringey deanery on Wednesday,
27th September, 7:00-9:00pm,
in St. John Vianney parish hall.
It is crucial that we have people who are
trained to handle emergency situations at
each one of our masses we encourage
EVERYONE to attend this training,
especially readers, Eucharistic ministers
and collectors. Registration required;
please sign the form at back of the church.
