LAMDA Examinations

Setting standards in
communication and
performance
As an educational organisation that leads in the field of theatre arts
and the spoken word, we maintain that the development and use of
communication and language are at the heart of a childs learning. Our
examinations provide a framework for learning, with achievable and
measurable goals at each stage of the process.

LAMDA offers examinations in speech and drama, designed to help develop

communication, language and literacy skills. These examinations provide a
platform for children and young people to gain confidence, work as a team,
hold a conversation and participate more fully in their society. They also
provide teachers with an opportunity to motivate and engage their pupils.

The LAMDA Introductory examinations help develop communication skills,

encourage confidence and provide an exciting introduction to reading and
poetry.

LAMDAs Communication examinations, particularly in Using Spoken

English and Speaking in Public, help students prepare for interviews, make
presentations and provide a platform for those careers where such skills are
important.

The Performance examinations provide vocational pathways to work in

acting, theatre, musical theatre and the teaching of performing arts, as well
as the opportunity for personal development through a wide spectrum of

interests.

Our examiners are teachers, theatre practitioners and speech and drama
professionals. They are trained to a high standard to ensure that each
examination experience is positive and constructive for individual learners.

LAMDA examinations are accredited by Ofqual, the regulator in England and

its counterparts in Wales and Northern Ireland. Our accredited examinations
can also be used to meet the Additional and Specialist Learning (ASL) criteria
within the Diplomas. Level 3 examinations will also help students enter UK
universities, through the University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS)
points system.
LAMDA Communication examinations help learners develop:

an appreciation of literature

speeches
