PAST CONTINUOUS

1. We use the past continuous to say that something was in progress arround a particular
time:

What were you doing at eight oclock yesterday evening? I was watching TV.
When I got up this morning the sun was shining, the birds were singing

2. We form the past continuous like this:

WAS/WERE + -ING:

I was working were you listening to me?

3. We use the past simple for a complete action and the past continuous for an action in
progress in the past:

When I walked into the room, Ann was writting postcards and Keith was Redding.

4. We can use while before past continuous:

I met her while we were working for the same company.
